브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 홈플러스가 서울 잠실점과 인천숭의점의 영업을 종료하기로 결정했다.
이로써 홈플러스가 회생절차 개시 이후 문을 닫기로 한 점포는 총 19곳으로 늘어나게 됐다.
홈플러스는 지난 22일 사내 공지를 통해 잠실점과 인천숭의점의 폐점을 공식화했다.
홈플러스는 “해당 점포들은 임대차 계약 기간 만료와 더불어 장기적인 영업 적자가 지속되어 온 곳”이라며 “영업종료 시점은 미정이다”고 전했다.
잠실점은 송파구의 랜드마크인 석촌호수 인근에 위치해 20년 넘게 운영돼 왔으나, 인근 대형 마트와의 치열한 경쟁과 높은 임대료 부담이 발목을 잡은 것으로 풀이된다.
인천숭의점은 미추홀구의 중심 상권에 위치해 한때 높은 매출을 기록했으나, 최근 이커머스 시장 확대와 소비 패턴 변화로 인해 수익성이 급격히 악화된 것으로 알려졌다.
한편, 이미 지난달 가양점, 일산점 등 5개 지점이 문을 닫았으며, 이달 말에는 시흥점, 안산고잔점, 계산점, 천안신방점, 동촌점 등 5개 점포가 추가로 영업을 중단할 예정이다. 여기에 잠실점과 인천숭의점까지 포함되면서 수도권 지역의 점포 정리 기조는 더욱 거세질 전망이다.
