[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 의령군은 발암물질인 석면을 함유한 슬레이트 건축물로부터 군민의 건강을 보호하고 쾌적한 주거환경을 조성하기 위해 ‘2026년 슬레이트 처리 지원사업’을 시행한다고 26일 밝혔다.

건축물 소재지 관할 읍·면사무소에서 2월 28일까지 신청하면 된다. 

주민등록상 주소지와 관계없이 의령군 내 슬레이트 건축물을 보유하고 있으면 신청할 수 있다.

의령군은 2013년부터 현재까지 총 106억 원의 예산을 투입해 슬레이트 건축물 3,030동을 처리해 왔으며, 올해도 기초생활수급자와 차상위계층 등 취약계층을 우선 선정하고 슬레이트 처리 면적이 적은 건축물을 중심으로 지원할 계획이다.

2026년 지원 물량은 주택 슬레이트 철거 209동, 비주택 슬레이트 철거 46동, 주택 지붕개량 9동이다. 

주택 슬레이트 철거의 경우 일반 가구는 최대 700만 원까지 지원되며 취약계층은 전액 지원한다. 

주택 지붕개량은 취약계층에 한해 최대 1,000만 원 한도로 지원된다.

군 관계자는 “지속적인 슬레이트 처리 지원사업을 통해 군민의 건강을 보호하고, 보다 안전하고 쾌적한 생활환경을 조성해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
