경주시는 식품접객업소 반려동물 동반 출입 허용 제도를 3월 1일부터 시행한다고 28일 밝혔다. 이번 조치는 반려동물을 기르는 시민의 생활 편의를 높이는 동시에 비반려인의 이용 선택권을 함께 보장하기 위한 취지다.
해당 제도는 일반음식점과 휴게음식점, 제과점 등 식품접객업소를 대상으로 적용되며, 출입이 허용되는 반려동물은 개와 고양이에 한정된다.
시는 제도 시행에 맞춰 반려동물 동반 영업장에 대한 시설 기준과 준수사항, 행정처분 기준을 새롭게 마련했다. 반려동물 동반 영업장은 외부 출입문에 반려동물 동반 영업장임을 알리는 안내 표지판을 설치해야 하며, 반려동물이 조리장이나 식재료 보관창고 등 식품취급시설에 접근하지 못하도록 칸막이 또는 울타리를 설치해야 한다.
