[Break News Yangju=Kim Tae-young] Ma Jeong-ju, director of EQ Music Academy (in front of the main gate of Ganap Elementary School) located in Gwangjeok-myeon, Yangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, received a commendation from Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-hyun on the 28th for "Contribution to Music Education for Juvenile Offenders at the Lazarus Youth Home."
Located in Nam-myeon, Yangju-si, "Lazarus Youth Home" is a child welfare facility that helps at-risk youth grow into healthy members of society. It provides living support, psychological and emotional care, education, and career guidance to juvenile offenders. It is operated by the Presbyterian Welfare Foundation of Korea, a social welfare corporation.
Director Ma Jeong-ju, who received the Gyeonggi Province Governor's Award that day, majored in piano at a university and has run a piano academy for approximately 35 years. He was particularly recognized for his contributions to the Lazarus Youth Home, where he provided music lessons for psychological and emotional support for approximately 15 years.
Director Ma stated, "I feel both embarrassed and grateful for this undeserved recognition, considering I have accomplished nothing significant. While teaching piano music to bright young people, I felt a sense of compassion for these children, who, while sometimes flawed, possess both talent and skill."
