예비소집에는 1만3,591명이 참석해 응소율이 92%를 기록했다. 예비소집에 참석하지 않은 아동은 1,135명으로 집계됐으나, 교육지원청과 각 학교가 개별 연락, 가정 방문, 경찰 협조 등 다양한 방법을 동원해 전원 소재를 파악한 것으로 나타났다.
예비소집 미응소 사유는 국립·사립·특수학교 입학 예정이 400명으로 가장 많았고, 특수교육 대상자 중 취학 유예자는 148명이었다. 이 외에도 취학 유예 또는 면제, 단순 불참 등 다양한 사례가 있었다.
특히 해외 출국 아동의 경우 대구시교육청은 관할 경찰서에 수사를 의뢰하고, 해당 국가의 영사관 협조를 받아 소재를 확인 중이다. 교육청은 앞으로도 누락되는 아동이 없도록 끝까지 확인 절차를 이어갈 방침이다.
교육청 관계자는 “3월 입학일 전까지 미취학 아동의 입학을 적극적으로 독려할 계획”이라며 “의무교육의 첫 단계인 초등학교 입학생과 취학 유예 및 면제 아동에 대해서도 보다 체계적이고 지속적으로 관리해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
