【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=권오상 전 대구 서구 부구청장이 서구청장 선거 출마를 공식화했다. 권 전 부구청장은 출마 선언을 통해 “지금 서구는 도약의 기회와 몰락의 분기점에 서 있다”며 “풍부한 행정 경험과 현장 감각으로 서구의 내일을 책임지겠다”고 포부를 밝혔다.
권 예비후보는 자신을 “서구에서 나고 자라 50년을 함께한 행정전문가”로 소개했다. 이어 평리초와 평리중을 졸업하며 성장 과정부터 서구의 변화를 몸소 겪어왔다고 강조했다.
그는 “서구는 1980년대의 황금기를 지나 산업 쇠퇴와 도심 공동화로 인구가 줄며 어려움을 겪었지만, 최근 대규모 주거단지 조성과 정주환경 개선으로 다시 한 번 도약의 기회가 찾아오고 있다”고 진단했다.
그러면서 서구가 재도약할 수 있는 다섯 가지 핵심과제로 ▲염색산단·서대구산단의 대전환을 통한 산업구조 혁신 ▲하수처리장 지하화 및 기초환경시설 폐쇄로 악취 근본 해결 ▲서대구역 역세권 개발 및 도시철도 5호선 조기 개통 ▲아이와 어르신 모두가 안심할 수 있는 복지망 구축 ▲주차 공간 확충과 쾌적한 도시환경 조성을 약속했다.
염색산단과 관련해선 “40년 넘게 지역 경제를 떠받쳐왔던 염색산단이 노후화와 산업 환경 변화로 새로운 해답이 필요하다”며, “과감한 업종 전환과 산업용지의 용도 변경을 추진, 고부가가치 산업과 미래형 일자리, 복지·지원시설이 어우러진 공간으로 재탄생시킬 것”이라고 밝혔다.
악취 문제 역시 강조했다. 환경국장 재직 경험을 언급하며 “하수처리장 지하화와 환경시설 일부 폐쇄를 통해 구민이 피부로 느끼는 변화를 만들겠다”고 강조했다. 또 “강화된 배출허용 기준 등 주민 눈높이에 맞는 단속을 직접 챙기겠다”고 덧붙였다.
서대구역 개발에 대해선 “경부선, 대구산업선, 달빛철도, 공항철도가 만나는 국가 교통의 중앙 거점”이라며, “2028년 전국 철도 전환기와 대구산업선 개통에 맞춰 대구의 관문 역할을 제대로 해내겠다”고 말했다. 단기적으로는 문화·놀이시설 유치, 중장기적으로는 비즈니스호텔과 민간 상업시설이 결합된 복합단지 조성 구상도 내놨다.
복지 분야에선 “아이 키우기 좋은 서구, 어르신이 외롭지 않은 서구”를 만들겠다는 목표를 내세웠다. 교육·문화 인프라를 확대하고, 기존 복지시설을 허브로 민관 협력을 강화하는 한편, AI 기술을 활용한 노인복지 체계도 구축할 계획이다.
권 전 부구청장은 “주민은 행정 대상이 아니라 의사결정의 주인공”이라며, 주민·전문가·청년이 함께하는 ‘서구미래전략위원회’ 상설화를 공약했다. 그러면서 “준비된 행정전문가로, 바로 일할 수 있는 역량을 갖췄다”며 “구민과 소통하며 함께 성장하는 서구를 만들겠다”고 거듭 강조했다.
한편, 1967년 경북 의성 출신인 권 전 부구청장은 평리초, 평리중, 영남고와 영남대 정치외교학과를 졸업했고, 대학원에서 사회복지학 석사를 취득했다. 대구시 환경수자원국장, 서구 부구청장과 행정국장, 일자리노동정책과장, 택시물류과장 등을 역임했다.

He added, "By boldly transitioning industries and repurposing industrial land, we will revitalize it into a space where high-value-added industries, future-oriented jobs, and welfare and support facilities coexist."
He also emphasized the issue of odor. Citing his experience as Director of the Environmental Bureau, he emphasized, "By locating sewage treatment plants underground and closing some environmental facilities, we will create tangible changes for residents." He reiterated his commitment, saying, "As a well-prepared administrative expert, I have the skills to get to work right away. I will create a Seo-gu district that communicates with its residents and grows together with them."
Meanwhile, former Deputy Mayor Kwon, born in Uiseong, Gyeongsangbuk-do in 1967, graduated from Pyeongri Elementary School, Pyeongri Middle School, and Yeongnam High School. He also earned a master's degree in social welfare from graduate school. He has served as Director of the Daegu City Environment and Water Resources Bureau, Deputy Mayor of Seo-gu, Director of the Administrative Bureau, Director of the Employment and Labor Policy Division, and Director of the Taxi Logistics Division.
