【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=충북 진천군은 진천읍 (구)경찰서 일대 지중화 사업이 한국전력공사(주)의 ‘2026년도 가공배전선로 지중화사업’ 공모에 최종 선정됐다고 2일 밝혔다.
이번 사업에는 총 35억 원의 예산이 투입될 예정으로, 사업비는 한국전력공사와 통신사가 44%, 진천군이 56%를 각각 부담한다.
해당 사업을 통해 약 460m 구간의 전신주를 철거하고, 전력선과 통신선을 지하에 매설해 쾌적한 보행 환경을 조성할 계획이다.
군은 진천읍 시가지 내 전주와 전선, 통신선 지중화를 1단계부터 4단계까지 단계적으로 추진해 도시 미관을 개선하고, 주민 안전사고를 예방하는 등 보행권을 크게 향상시킨다는 방침이다.
이를 위해 군은 올해 초 한국전력공사 및 통신사와 업무협약을 체결했으며, 2026년 실시설계에 착수해 2027년까지 해당 구간의 지중화 사업을 완료할 계획이다.
아울러 군은 앞으로도 공모사업에 적극 대응해 진천읍 정자도로 전 구간에 대한 지중화를 단계적으로 추진해 나갈 예정이다.
