【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구 남구가 대학 캠퍼스 한가운데 청년 창업의 새로운 거점을 마련하며 인구 유출과 지역 침체 해소에 나섰다.
남구는 지난 3일 계명대학교 대명캠퍼스 동산관에서 ‘남구 창업플랫폼’ 개관식을 열고, 본격적인 사업 시작을 알렸다. 이날 개관식에는 주민과 대학생 등 400여 명이 참석해 제막식과 함께 시설을 둘러봤다.
남구 창업플랫폼은 중소벤처기업부 주관 지역혁신창업활성화사업에 선정되면서 추진됐다. 사업비 26억5천만 원은 국비 15억 원, 구비 6억5천만 원, 지방소멸대응기금 5억 원 등으로 마련됐다. 창업플랫폼은 동산관 1·4·5층 총 3,798㎡ 규모로 들어섰으며, 36개의 창업보육공간과 공용사무실, 회의실, 라운지 등 누구나 이용할 수 있는 공간을 두루 갖췄다.
남구는 이번 플랫폼을 단순한 창업 공간을 넘어 ‘청년 정착 거점’으로 삼겠다는 구상을 밝혔다. 대학 캠퍼스 내 창업 인프라를 구축해 청년 유입과 교류를 자연스럽게 이끌고, 창업 초기 단계의 가장 큰 장벽인 공간과 네트워크 부족 문제를 동시에 해소한다는 방침이다.
플랫폼 운영은 예비·초기 창업자 중심이지만, 청년뿐 아니라 장년, 소상공인, 시니어 창업자 등 다양한 계층이 참여할 수 있도록 설계됐다. 창업 교육, 멘토링, 기술·마케팅 컨설팅, 투자 연계 프로그램 등도 단계별로 지원할 계획이다.
남구는 기존 청년 정책과도 긴밀하게 연계한다. ‘청년 둥지 프로젝트’ 중심으로 네트워킹, 교육, 자립 지원, 지역 정착까지 하나의 흐름으로 이어지도록 하고, AI 콘텐츠 크리에이터 양성, 창업 임대료·주거 지원, 미취업자 자격증 응시료 지원 등 기존 사업도 플랫폼과 연계할 예정이다. 고립·은둔 청년을 잡기 위한 심리지원 프로그램 역시 함께 추진된다.
조재구 남구청장은 “창업플랫폼을 중심으로 청년 정책을 유기적으로 연결해, 청년이 머물고 도전하며 정착할 수 있는 기반을 만들겠다”며 “청년 정책을 출발점으로 삼아 ‘청년 둥지’, 더 나아가 ‘청년친화도시 남구’로 이어지는 정책 흐름을 완성하겠다”고 말했다.

Occupying a total of 3,798 square meters on the 1st, 4th, and 5th floors of the Dongsan Hall, the platform features 36 startup incubation spaces, shared offices, conference rooms, and a lounge, all open to the public.
Nam-gu announced plans to transform this platform into a "youth settlement hub" beyond a mere startup space. By establishing startup infrastructure on university campuses, the plan is to naturally foster the influx and interaction of young people, while simultaneously addressing the challenges of lack of space and networking, two of the biggest barriers to early-stage startups.
While the platform focuses on aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs, it is designed to accommodate a diverse range of participants, including young adults, small business owners, and senior entrepreneurs. Support will also be provided through entrepreneurship education, mentoring, technology and marketing consulting, and investment linkage programs, all at different stages.
Nam-gu will closely integrate with existing youth policies. Centered around the "Youth Nest Project," the platform will integrate networking, education, self-reliance support, and local settlement into a single, integrated program. Existing initiatives, such as AI content creator training, startup rent and housing support, and certification exam fee assistance for the unemployed, will also be integrated with the platform. Psychological support programs will also be implemented to engage isolated and reclusive young people.
Nam-gu District Mayor Cho Jae-gu said, “We will organically connect youth policies centered on the startup platform to create a foundation where young people can stay, take on challenges, and settle down,” and added, “We will complete a policy flow that will lead to ‘youth nests’ and, further, ‘youth-friendly city Nam-gu’ with youth policies as the starting point.”
