고양특례시가 시민 안전을 위해 덕양구 행정복지센터를 비롯한 공중화장실 15곳에 안심 스마트화장시설을 설치했다고 밝혔다.
이번에 구축된 안심 스마트화장실에는 비상벨과 이상 소음 및 낙상 자동 감지 시스템이 탑재됐다.
화장실 내부에서 범죄나 사고, 응급상황이 발생할 경우 즉시 외부로 신호가 전달돼 신속한 대응이 가능하다.

시는 고령층 이용자가 많은 곳을 우선 고려해 관산동, 화정1동, 고양동, 행신동 행정복지센터 화장실에 먼저 시설을 설치했다.
이어 이용자가 많은 주교동 행정복지센터와 백석체육센터 수영장 화장실로 설치를 확대했다.
시는 이번 사업이 혼자 화장실을 이용하는 어르신과 시민들의 안전을 지키는 동시에, 공중화장실 이용 시 느끼는 불안감 해소에 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다.
