【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=음성군은 본격적인 영농철을 앞두고 해외 업무협약(MOU)을 맺은 라오스 외국인계절근로자 21명이 지난 3일 인천공항을 통해 올해 첫 입국했다고 밝혔다.
군은 지난해에 이어 올해도 2월 조기 도입을 추진했으며, 이는 농촌의 고질적인 인력난 해소에 큰 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.
이날 입국한 외국인 계절근로자는 군과 마약검사 업무협약이 체결된 금왕읍 소재 (의)제일조은병원에서 마약검사를 받았다. 이어 음성명작생활관에서 한국문화이해 및 농작업 안전과 유의 사항 등에 대해 교육을 받았다.
또한 외국인계절근로자의 통장개설 편의를 위해 농협중앙회 음성군지부 음성군청출장소 직원이 직접 음성명작생활관을 찾아 직접 이들의 통장개설을 도왔다.
이후 모든 절차를 마친 이들은 8농가에 배정돼 고용주의 인솔하에 숙소로 복귀했다.
군은 입국하는 외국인 계절근로자 및 고용 농가를 위해 산재보험료, 마약검사비, 생필품지원, 공항인솔 등에 3억4000여만원의 예산을 편성해 지원할 방침이다.
군 관계자는 “이번 외국인 계절근로자 입국을 시작으로 농번기 농촌인력난으로 어려움을 겪는 농가들에 큰 보탬이 되기를 바란다”며 “입국한 계절근로자들도 농작업 안전과 건강에 특히 유의해 달라”고 말했다.
한편 군은 지난해 242농가에 계절근로자 722명을 도입했다. 올해는 라오스·캄보디아 등 MOU 체결국 근로자와 결혼이민자 초청 근로자 등 891명을 오는 7월까지 매월 2~5회 순차적으로 도입할 방침이다.
