계양구에 따르면, 계양마을학교는 마을의 다양한 인적·물적 자원을 활용해 학교 밖에서 아이들의 성장과 학습을 지원하는 교육 모델로, 계양교육혁신지구 사업의 하나로 추진되고 있다.
