포항 죽장면 야산서 산 불 2시간여 만에 진화…산림 0.3㏊ 소실

경북소방본부와 산림청에 따르면 8일 오전 5시 30분쯤 포항시 북구 죽장면 지동리의 한 야산에서 화재가 발생했다. 신고를 접수한 소방당국과 산림당국은 진화헬기 9대와 장비 21대, 인력 105명을 긴급 투입해 오전 7시 30분쯤 불길을 완전히 잡았다.

이번 화재로 인명 피해는 없었으나, 산림 약 0.3헥타르가 불에 타는 재산 피해가 발생했다.

당국은 화재 발생 직후 “야산 인근 밭에서 불이 번졌다”는 신고를 토대로 화재 원인을 조사 중이다. 현재까지는 인근 대나무밭에서 화원을 부주의하게 다루는 과정에서 불이 시작된 것으로 보고 있다.

산림청 관계자는 “작은 불씨라도 방치할 경우 대형 산불로 이어질 수 있다”며 “쓰레기와 영농부산물 불법 소각 행위는 절대 삼켜 달라”고 당부했다.
