[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산광역시교육청은 지난 1월 2일부터 7일까지 관내 공립 초등학교 295곳에서 실시한 2026학년도 취학 대상 아동 예비소집 결과, 전체 대상 아동의 94.1%가 등록했다고 10일 밝혔다.
이번 예비소집에는 취학 대상 아동 1만 7천847명 중 1만 6천801명이 참여했다. 이는 지난해 대상자 1만 9천360명보다 1천513명 줄어든 수치다.
예비소집에 참석하지 않은 아동은 1천131명으로 이 중 1천126명의 소재가 확인됐다. 불참 사유로는 해외 유학이나 특수교육 등으로 인한 취학 면제·유예, 예비소집 이후 등록, 해외 체류 등이 포함됐다.
소재가 아직 확인되지 않은 5명은 이중국적자 해외 출국 또는 보호자 연락 두절 등이 원인으로 추정되며, 경찰에 수사 의뢰돼 회신을 기다리고 있다.
시교육청은 관련 기관과 협력해 미등록 아동의 소재와 안전을 끝까지 확인하겠다고 밝혔다. 김석준 교육감은 “모든 아동이 안전하게 학교생활을 시작할 수 있도록 관계기관과 긴밀히 협력하겠다”고 말했다.

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on February 10 that 94.1 percent of children eligible to enter elementary school this year have completed preliminary enrollment. The registration took place from January 2 to 7 across 295 public elementary schools in the city.
To accommodate working parents, the enrollment period included evening and weekend sessions over six days.
Of the 17,847 children eligible for admission, 16,801 registered during the preliminary process. The number of eligible children decreased by 1,513 compared to last year’s 19,360.
Among 1,131 children who did not attend, the whereabouts of 1,126 have been confirmed. Most absences were due to legitimate reasons such as overseas schooling, enrollment deferral for special education, or overseas stays confirmed after the designated period.
Authorities are still tracing five children whose statuses remain unconfirmed, suspected to be overseas or out of contact with guardians. The cases have been referred to the police for investigation.
The education office said it will continue working with local government offices and police to confirm the safety and whereabouts of all unregistered children. Superintendent Kim Seok-jun stated, “We will ensure that every child can start school safely by cooperating closely with relevant agencies.”
