이재명 대통령이 12일 청와대에서 정청래 더불어민주당 대표·장동혁 국민의힘 대표와 오찬 겸 회동을 갖는다고 대통령실이 11일 전했다.
강훈식 비서실장은 이날 오후 춘추관 브리핑에서 이같은 이 대통령과 여야 대표 간 회동 사안을 밝혔다. 이 대통령과 장 대표 간 만남은 앞서 지난 2025년 9월 8일 여야 지도부 오찬 회동 이후 157일 만이다.
강 실장은 "이번 회동은 민생 회복·국정 안정을 위한 초당적 협력 방안 논의 차원"이라며 "의제에 제한 두지 않고 허심탄회한 의견 교환이 이뤄질 전망"이라고 했다.
그러면서 "대통령은 국민이 체감할 수 있는 실질 변화를 만들기 위해 여·야의 책임 있는 협력을 당부할 걸로 예상한다"고 전했다.
또 "지금은 양당 소통이 더 중요한 시점이라 생각하고 있다"며 "기본적으로 입법 관련해선 국회가 여야의 충분한 대화를 바탕으로 의사결정을 하고, 정부는 국회 결정을 존중하고 따른다는 입장"이라고 말했다.
이어 "내일 여야 대표 모두 말씀을 듣고 새 협치의 시작이 되길 바란다"고 강조했다.
더불어 "새해를 맞아 소통·협력을 통해 국민께 희망을 드리는 출발점이 되길 기대한다"며 "청와대는 앞으로도 여야 지도부와 지속 소통을 통해 통합·신뢰를 바탕으로 대도약 길을 국민과 걸어갈 것"이라고 덧붙였다.
