가평군은 지난 10일 김미성 부군수를 총괄 단장으로 하여 가평소방서, 한국전기안전공사, 민간 전문가 등으로 구성된 민·관 합동 점검반을 꾸리고 가평잣고을시장과 창업경제타운 일대에서 강도 높은 현장 안전 점검을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

이번 합동 점검은 명절 대목을 맞아 인파가 몰리는 전통시장의 화재 등 대형 재난 위험 요인을 사전에 발굴하고 제거하기 위해 마련됐다. 점검반은 자칫 소홀해지기 쉬운 안전 불감증을 경계하며 시설 전반의 관리 실태를 꼼꼼히 살폈다.
주요 점검 사항으로는 ▲비상구 확보 및 피난 통로 내 적치물 방치 여부 ▲전기·가스 시설의 노후화 및 정상 작동 여부 ▲화재 취약 요소에 대한 자체 순찰 강화 여부 등이 중점적으로 다뤄졌다. 점검 결과 경미한 사항은 현장에서 즉시 시정 조치했으며, 보완이 필요한 사항은 설 연휴 시작 전까지 조치를 완료하도록 권고했다.
