이재명 대통령이 11일 구정 설 연휴에 앞서 충북 충주 '먹거리 그냥드림' 사업 현장을 찾아 "배고픈 사람이 굶지 않도록 하라"고 지시했다고 청와대가 전했다.
안귀령 청와대 부대변인은 이날 오후 서면 브리핑에서 "이 대통령 부부가 이날 오후 충주시 건강복지타운 내 푸드마켓 그냥드림 코너를 방문했다"며 이같이 전했다.
'그냥드림 사업'은 끼니 해결이 어려운 국민 누구나 별도 신청·증빙 등 조건 없이 먹거리·생필품을 지원받을 수 있는 제도로 현재 전국 67개 시·군·구 107곳에서 운영 중이다.
이 대통령은 "(그냥드림 사업은) 시민 복지 사업이 아닌 '굶지는 말자' '계란 훔쳐서 감옥 가지 말자' 취지"라며 "(타 지역에) 거주한다고 제한할 필요는 없다"고 했다.
이광훈 충주종합사회복지관장이 "충주시는 신분이 확인돼야 한다"고 말하자 이 대통령은 "지침을 명확히 줘야 할 것 같다"며 "우리 지역만 이렇게 생각하고 있는 것 같다"고 했다.
그러면서 "방문자 특성들은 좀 구분해 봤느냐"며 "국민들이 공짜로 주니 아무나 와 막 집어간다는 의심을 하는데 실제 알기론 없다"고 하자 이 관장은 "맞다. 그런 사례는 없었고, 좋은 정책이라 얘기하면서 살기 좋다 얘기한다"고 답했다.
