<브레이크뉴스 의정부 = 이용하 기자> 의정부시가 남들이 가지 않는 길을 개척하는 청년들을 위해 든든한 지원군으로 나섰다.
의정부시는 청년들의 글로벌 역량 강화와 취업 경쟁력 확보를 돕기 위해 ‘2026년 의정부 청년 특수외국어 응시료 지원사업’을 본격 시행한다고 밝혔다.
이번 사업은 경기도가 지원하는 주요 7개 언어(영어·중국어·일본어·독일어·프랑스어·스페인어·러시아어) 지원사업의 사각지대를 해소하기 위해 마련됐다. 시는 이들 7개 언어를 제외한 53종의 특수외국어 어학시험에 응시하는 청년들에게 최대 15만 원까지 응시료를 실비로 지원한다.
지원 대상은 신청일 기준 의정부시에 주민등록을 둔 19세 이상 39세 이하의 미취업 청년이다. 그동안 주류 언어에 밀려 지원 혜택을 받지 못했던 소수 언어 전공자나 학습자들에게는 희소식이 될 전망이다.
신청 희망자는 해당 어학시험에 응시한 뒤 경기도일자리재단 통합접수시스템 ‘잡아바 어플라이’를 통해 증빙서류를 제출하면 된다. 지원금은 예산 소진 시까지 선착순으로 지급된다.
김영리 의정부시 청년정책과장은 “이번 사업을 통해 청년들이 특수외국어라는 차별화된 무기를 장착하고 더 넓은 글로벌 무대로 나아갈 수 있기를 바란다”라며 “앞으로도 청년들의 다양한 꿈을 응원하는 실질적인 정책을 발굴해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
