청와대가 12일 루이즈 이나시우 룰라 다 시우바 브라질 대통령이 오는 22~24일 국빈 방한한다고 밝혔다.
청와대에 따르면 이재명 대통령과 룰라 대통령은 오는 23일 정상회담·MOU(양해각서) 서명식·국빈 만찬 등을 갖는다.
룰라 대통령의 이번 방한은 지난 2005년 본인 첫 임기에 국빈 방한한 이후 21년 만이다.
양 정상은 이번 정상회담을 통해 교역·투자·기후·에너지·우주·방산·과학기술·농업·교육·문화·인적교류 등 다양한 분야에서 양국 간 실질 협력 강화 방안을 논의한다.
청와대는 "브라질은 1959년 중남미에서 처음 수교한 전통 우방국이자 남미 지역 최대 교역·투자 파트너"라며 "약 5만 한인이 거주하는 중남미 최대 규모 동포사회가 형성된 국가"라고 했다.
그러면서 "양 정상은 사회적 통합·실용주의를 중시한다는 공통점을 갖고 있다"며 "양 정상이 공유하는 국정 철학은 양국 관계를 더욱 돈독히 하는 중요 촉매제가 될 걸로 기대된다"고 덧붙였다.
