브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 최태원 대한상공회의소 회장이 최근 상속세 관련 통계 신뢰성 논란에 대해 공식 사과하고 전면적인 쇄신에 나서겠다고 밝혔다.
최 회장은 12일 발표한 입장문에서 “인용 데이터의 신뢰성에 문제가 제기됐고, 그 문제점은 우리 스스로도 확인했다”며 “경제 현상을 진단하고 정책 대안을 제시해야 하는 기관에 대해 근본적인 신뢰 문제가 제기된 것은 뼈아픈 일”이라고 말했다.
이어 “팩트체크 강화 정도의 재발 방지 대책으로는 턱없이 부족하다”며 “법정 경제단체라는 자부심이 매너리즘으로 변질되지 않았는지 냉정하게 되돌아봐야 한다”고 밝혔다.
최 회장은 이번 논란을 계기로 대한상의 전반에 대한 구조적 혁신에 착수하겠다고 강조했다. 구체적으로 ▲조직문화와 목표의 혁신 ▲전문성 확보 ▲대한상의 역할에 대한 근본적 성찰 ▲반성과 성찰을 위한 당분간 상의 주관 행사 중단 ▲임원진 전원 재신임 절차 진행 및 후속 조치 등 5가지 쇄신안을 발표했다.
대한상의는 향후 내부 점검과 조직 개편을 통해 신뢰 회복에 주력한다는 방침이다.
