국민의힘 김선광 대전시의원이 오는 6월 실시되는 제9회 전국동시지방선거에서 대전 중구청장 출마를 공식 선언하며, 침체된 지역 경제를 살리고 사람이 모이는 ‘역동적인 중구’를 만들겠다는 포부를 밝혔다.
12일 오후 대전시의회 1층 로비에서 중구청장 출마를 선언한 김선광 의원은현재의 중구를 "잃어버린 16년, 쇠퇴해버린 도시"로 진단하며, 이제는 선언적인 구호가 아닌 실질적인 예산과 사업으로 결과물을 만들어낼 수 있는 '실무형 리더십'이 필요한 시점이라고 강조했다.
먼저 김 의원은 원도심 부활을 최우선 과제로 꼽았다.
기존의 단순 지원 방식을 탈피하여 전통시장과 골목상권을 문화, 관광, 야간경제 인프라와 유기적으로 연결함으로써 시민들이 자연스럽게 머무는 도시로 재생시키겠다는 계획이다.
특히 청년들이 다시 돌아오는 중구를 만들기 위해 청년 주거와 창업, 문화 일자리를 하나로 묶는 통합 지원 체계를 구축하여 "중구에서 시작하면 성공할 수 있다"는 확신을 심어주겠다고 약속했다.

행정 철학에 있어서는 과감한 혁신을 예고했다.
김 의원은 "과거의 구태 행정과 보여주기식 행정에서 벗어나 데이터 기반의 실질 행정을 구현하겠다"며, 관리형 구청장이 아닌 현장에서 답을 찾고 즉각 실행에 옮기는 ‘속도감 있는 실무형 구청장’이 되겠다는 각오를 다졌다.
