전주대학교가 교육부 주관 '교육국제화역량 인증제' 평가에서 신규 인증대학으로 선정됐다.
13일 전주대학교에 따르면 교육부가 주관한 '제4주기 교육국제화역량 인증제(IEQAS)' 평가를 통과해 우수한 외국인 유학생 유치 역량과 체계적인 관리 시스템을 인정받았다.
이번 인증 기간은 2026년 3월부터 2030년 2월까지 4년간이다.
교육국제화역량 인증제는 국제화 전략과 유학생 선발 체계 및 학업ㆍ생활ㆍ진로 지원 역량을 비롯 불법체류율ㆍ중도탈락률 관리ㆍ유학생 공인 언어능력 등을 종합적으로 평가해 일정 기준을 충족한 대학에 인증을 부여하는 제도로 유학생들의 질 관리를 통해 한국 고등교육의 국제적 신뢰도를 높이고 대학의 경쟁력을 강화하는 데 목적이 있다.
전주대는 이번 심사의 모든 평가지표에서 우수한 성적을 거둬 외국인 유학생을 위한 체계적인 교육과 지원 인프라를 갖추었음을 입증했다.
이번 인증으로 향후 4년간 비자 발급 심사 완화 및 절차 간소화ㆍ정부초청장학생(GKS) 사업 가산점 부여ㆍ국제화 관련 재정 지원 사업 참여 우대 등의 혜택을 받게 된다.
전주대는 이번 인증을 발판 삼아 해외 우수 자매결연 대학과 교류를 확대하는 동시에 지역 특화 산업과 연계한 글로벌 인재 양성 및 해외 한국유학박람회 등 정부 사업에서 선점 효과를 발휘한다는 계획이다.
심영국 국제교류원장은 "글로벌 캠퍼스로 도약하기 위해 그동안 유학생 밀착 상담ㆍ한국어 교육 강화ㆍ다양한 문화 체험 프로그램 등을 지속적으로 운영한 결실"이라며 "앞으로도 유학생들이 학업에 전념하고 지역 사회에 조기 정착할 수 있도록 전주기 맞춤형 관리 체계를 고도화하겠다"고 밝혔다.
