올해 수상자는 ▲과학상 최경수 고등과학원 수학부 교수 ▲교육상 서울여자상업고등학교 ▲봉사상 최연수 한빛청소년재단 상임이사 ▲기술상 정기로 ㈜APS 대표이사 등 4명(기관)이다.
2007년 첫 시상을 시작한 포스코청암상은 올해 제정 20주년을 맞았다. 재단은 그동안 총 72명을 선정해 142억 원을 지원해 왔다. 특히 올해부터는 수상자 예우 강화를 위해 각 부문별 상금을 기존 2억 원에서 3억 원으로 증액했다.

과학상 수상자인 고등과학원 최경수 교수는 편미분방정식과 미분기하학을 접목해 위상수학적 난제를 해결해 온 젊은 수학자다. ‘곡률 흐름’을 기술하는 기하학적 편미분방정식의 해 존재성과 정칙성을 바탕으로 평균곡률 및 가우스곡률 흐름을 증명하며 이론 발전에 기여했다. 연구 성과는 ‘Acta Mathematica’, ‘Inventiones Mathematicae’ 등 국제 최상위 학술지에 게재돼 학계의 주목을 받았다.
교육상 수상기관인 서울여자상업고등학교는 1926년 설립된 국내 최초의 여성 실업교육기관으로, 100년 가까이 여성 전문인력 양성에 힘써왔다. ‘선취업 후학습’ 모델을 정착시켜 학생들이 취업 이후에도 학습을 이어갈 수 있는 체계를 구축했으며, 2018년부터 7년 연속 취업률 100%를 기록하는 성과를 거두고 있다.

봉사상 수상자인 최연수 상임이사는 1992년 야학 활동을 시작으로 30여 년간 학교 밖 위기청소년의 교육과 자립을 지원해왔다. 송파구 거여동·마천동 일대에서 상담소와 청소년센터, 대안학교 2곳을 운영하며 심리 지원부터 학습·자립까지 연계하는 통합 지원 모델을 구축했다. 이를 통해 2천여 명의 청소년이 사회 구성원으로 성장하는 데 기여했다.
기술상 수상자인 APS 정기로 대표이사는 한국전자통신연구소 재직 시절의 경험을 바탕으로 창업에 나서, 30여 년간 반도체·디스플레이 핵심 장비의 독자 기술을 개발해왔다. 특히 OLED 공정 핵심장비인 엑시머 레이저 어닐링(ELA) 분야에서 글로벌 시장 점유율 95% 이상을 확보했으며, 반도체 급속 열처리 장비 분야에서도 경쟁력을 인정받고 있다.

한편 재단은 이날 설립 55주년 기념행사도 함께 열고 지난 55년간의 설립 이념과 포스코청암상의 사회적 의미를 되새겼다. 제20회 포스코청암상 시상식은 오는 4월 22일 서울 포스코센터에서 개최될 예정이다.

The POSCO TJ Park Prize, which was first awarded in 2007, celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Since then, the foundation has selected a total of 72 individuals and provided KRW 14.2 billion in support. To further enhance the recognition of recipients, the prize money in each category has been increased from KRW 200 million to KRW 300 million.
Professor Choi Kyung-soo of the Korea Institute for Advanced Study, winner of the Science Prize, is a young mathematician who has combined partial differential equations and differential geometry to solve challenging topological problems. He contributed to the development of theory by proving the existence and regularity of solutions to geometric partial differential equations describing "curvature flow," demonstrating mean curvature and Gaussian curvature flow. His research findings were published in top international journals such as Acta Mathematica and Inventiones Mathematicae, garnering significant academic attention.
Seoul Girls' Commercial High School, the recipient of the Education Prize, was established in 1926 as Korea's first women's vocational training institution and has dedicated itself to nurturing female professionals for nearly a century. By establishing a "job-first, then-learn" model, the school has established a system that allows students to continue their studies even after employment, achieving a 100% employment rate for seven consecutive years since 2018.
Choi Yeon-soo, the recipient of the Service Award, is Executive Director. Beginning with night school activities in 1992, she has supported the education and independence of at-risk youth at risk of being out of school for over 30 years. Operating a counseling center, a youth center, and two alternative schools in the Geoyeo-dong and Macheon-dong areas of Songpa-gu, she has established an integrated support model that connects psychological support to academic and self-reliance programs. Through this, she has contributed to the growth of over 2,000 youth into contributing members of society.
APS CEO Jeong Ki-ro, the recipient of the Technology Award, founded his own company based on his experience at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI). For over 30 years, he has developed proprietary technologies for core semiconductor and display equipment. Notably, the foundation has secured over 95% global market share in excimer laser annealing (ELA), a key piece of equipment for the OLED process, and is also recognized for its competitiveness in semiconductor rapid thermal processing equipment.
Meanwhile, the foundation also held a 55th anniversary event, reflecting on its founding principles over the past 55 years and the social significance of the POSCO TJ Park Prize. The 20th POSCO TJ Park Award Ceremony will be held at the POSCO Center in Seoul on April 22nd.
