주정봉 더불어민주당 대전시당 부위원장이 2월 20일 대전 서구청장 예비후보 등록을 완료하고 본격적인 선거전에 뛰어들었다.
오전 11시 대전 서구선거관리위원회에서 서구청장 예비후보로 공식 등록하자마자, 그는 지역민과 직접 소통하기 위해 은하수 네거리에서 첫 거리 인사를 시작했다.
주 후보는 은하수 네거리를 첫 방문지로 선택한 이유에 대해 “12.3 계엄 시도에 맞서 민주 헌정 질서를 지킨 대전 촛불 혁명과 민주화 운동의 상징적인 장소”라며 “이곳에서 구민이 진정한 주인이 되는 행복한 서구를 만들겠다는 의지를 다지고 싶었다”고 밝혔다.
등록 전인 오전 9시 30분에는 서구 지역 당원 및 지지자들과 함께 국립대전현충원을 찾아 순국선열과 호국영령을 참배하며 민주주의 수호와 지역 발전을 다짐하는 시간을 가졌다.
그가 내건 선거 슬로건은 ‘구민이 주인, 행복한 서구’로, 이는 그가 최근 펴낸 『서구를 바꾸는 100가지 약속』과 연계된 메시지다. 주 후보는 이 약속들을 반드시 실천하며 주민을 주인으로 섬기는 서구를 만들겠다는 강한 결의를 드러냈다.
서구 발전의 방향에 대해서는 △AI와 과학 기술이 중심이 되는 첨단 도시 △문화와 돌봄이 어우러진 생활도시 △기후변화 대응을 위한 친환경 탄소도시 △주민 참여와 스마트 행정이 결합된 미래형 도시 등 네 가지 핵심 축을 제시하며, 이를 토대로 ‘그랜드 디자인’을 구상하고 있다고 강조했다.
한편 주정봉 예비후보는 현재 더불어민주당 대전시당 부위원장과 민주당 대전혁신회의 공동대표를 맡고 있다.
지난해 대선 과정에서는 이재명 대통령 후보 총괄특보단 부단장과 대통령후보 직속 평화번영위원회 부위원장 등 요직을 역임하며 활발히 활동했다.

Meanwhile, preliminary candidate Joo Jeong-bong currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Daejeon City Chapter of the Democratic Party of Korea and Co-Chairman of the Democratic Party's Daejeon Innovation Conference.
During last year's presidential election, he was active in key positions, including as deputy head of the special advisory team for presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung and vice chairman of the Peace and Prosperity Committee directly under the presidential candidate.
