President Lee Jae-myung: "Rental and deposit shortages due to multiple-home regulations? The logic behind the miracle of protecting multiple-homeownership."
X (X, former Twitter) shared an article titled "If the regulation of multiple homeowners leads to a decrease in rental supply and a resurgence of jeonse and monthly rent instability, the responsibility lies with the president." "If multiple homeowners and rental business operators sell their homes, the jeonse and monthly rent supply will decrease, but the demand for jeonse and monthly rent will also decrease by that amount."

President Lee Jae-myung asserted on the 21st, "The argument that pressure on multiple housing and rental businesses will exacerbate housing insecurity for the working class due to a shortage of jeonse (rental deposits) and monthly rents is a miraculous logic that protects the multi-homeownership and rental housing businesses, the primary causes of rising housing prices and jeonse (rental deposits) and monthly rents."
That evening, President Lee shared an op-ed article from the People Power Party on X (formerly Twitter) titled, "If regulations on multiple homeowners lead to a decline in rental supply and a resurgence of jeonse (rental deposits) and monthly rent instability, the President will be held responsible." He asked, "Are you worried that if multiple homeowners and rental businesses sell their properties to resolve their multiple housing issues, there will be a decrease in jeonse (rental deposits) and monthly rents, worsening the housing situation for the working class?"
He added, "If multiple homeowners and rental businesses sell their homes, the jeonse (rental deposits) supply will decrease, but so will the demand for jeonse (rental deposits) from those without homes. Demand will decrease as much as supply, so it's absurd to only highlight the reduction in jeonse (rental deposits) and monthly rents."
He also said, "It's far more logical that an increase in the housing market will stabilize housing prices and jeonse (deposit) and monthly rents." He added, "If we consider whether housing prices will rise or fall if large-scale additional preferential treatment is provided under the current circumstances, significantly increasing the number of housing rental businesses and multiple homeowners, the answer is simple."
He continued, "Along with a great leap forward toward a better world, normalizing the abnormal is a lifelong task pursued by the government to build a new nation." He added, "As long as a minority continues to profit unfairly through illegal means, expedient practices, preferential treatment, and absurdities, while the powerless majority suffers the same, national development and the construction of a community of national happiness are empty promises."
He added, "Among the numerous normalization tasks, the most crucial is the elimination of real estate speculation. Eradicating real estate speculation and returning to a normal state is a critical national task that cannot be abandoned."
