청와대가 23일 신설된 국민안전비서관에 이종원 충북경찰청장, 공석인 인구정책비서관에 임호근 보건복지부 기획조정실장이 각각 내정됐다고 전했다.
청와대에 따르면 충북 진천 출신 이 신임 비서관은 경찰대(7기) 졸업 후 서울 광진·송파 경찰서장·충북청 자치경찰부장·경기북부·남부청 생활안전부장 등을 역임했다. 국민안전비서관은 민정수석실 산하에 신설될 예정으로 대규모 군집 행사에서 인파 사고 등을 막고 안전 관리를 맡는다.
또 9개월째 공석이었던 인구정책비서관에 임 보건복지부 기획조정실장이 내정된 가운데 AI(인공지능)미래기획수석실 산하에서 저출산·고령화 등 인구 정책을 총괄한다.
광주 출신 임 신임 비서관은 서강대 정치외교학과 졸업 후 제41회 행정고시를 거쳐 복지부 사회서비스정책관·문재인 정부 저출산고령사회위원회 사무국장 등을 거쳐 지난해 11월 복지부 정책기획관에서 기획조정실장으로 승진 후 이번에 비서관에 내정됐다.
