브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 미국 대법원이 도널드 트럼프 행정부의 ‘상호 관세’ 조치에 대해 위법 판결을 내린 이후, 트럼프 대통령이 강경 대응 방침을 재확인하며 각국을 향해 경고 메시지를 내놨다.
미 대법원은 20일 국제비상경제권한법(IEEPA)을 근거로 한 관세 부과가 위법이라고 판결했다. 해당 판결로 각국이 대응 방안을 모색하는 가운데, 트럼프 대통령은 22일 자신이 운영하는 소셜미디어 트루스소셜에 글을 올려 반발했다.
트럼프 대통령은 “‘터무니없는 대법원 판결’로 ‘장난(게임)’을 하고 싶은 국가, 특히 수년, 심지어 수십 년 동안 미국을 약탈한 국가는 최근에 합의한 것보다 훨씬 더 높은 관세를 물게 될 것”이라고 밝혔다. 이어 ‘구매자 주의!!!’라고 강조하며 “이 문제에 관심을 가져줘서 감사하다”고 덧붙였다.
이는 대법원 판결과 무관하게 미국산 제품 구매 약속은 반드시 지켜야 한다는 경고로 해석된다.
트럼프 대통령은 또 다른 게시물에서 “대통령으로서 관세 승인을 받기 위해 의회에 돌아갈 필요는 없다”고 주장했다. 그는 “관세는 이미 오래 전에 여러 형태로 승인됐다. 또한 터무니없고 부실한 대법원 판결에 의해 다시 확인됐다”고 적었다.
이는 기존에 의회를 통과한 다른 법률을 근거로 새로운 관세를 부과하겠다는 뜻을 재차 강조한 것으로 풀이된다.

President Trump: "Countries that play with the Supreme Court's ruling will face higher tariffs"
Following the US Supreme Court's ruling that the Donald Trump administration's "reciprocal tariffs" were unlawful, President Trump reaffirmed his hard-line stance and issued a warning to countries.
On the 20th, the US Supreme Court ruled that tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) were unlawful.
