국회 법사위서 광주·전남만 통과, 대전·충남은 대구·경북과 함께 제외

정용래 대전 유성구청장이 24일 국회 법제사법위원회에서 ‘대전·충남 행정통합 특별법’ 처리가 보류된 것에 대해 깊은 유감과 분노를 표명했다.
정 구청장은 이날 입장문을 내고 “24일 광주·전남 행정통합 특별법만 국회 법사위를 통과하고, 대전·충남 행정통합 특별법 처리가 대구·경북과 함께 보류된 상황을 참으로 안타깝게 생각한다”고 밝혔다.
그는 특히 행정통합이라는 중차대한 과제가 정치적 이해관계에 얽매여 표류하고 있는 현 상황을 정면으로 비판했다.
정 구청장은 “지역과 국가 발전이라는 대승적 차원에서 접근해야 할 행정통합이라는 시대적 과제가 정치적 이해관계에 따라 흔들리고 있다”며 “이에 대한 안타까움과 분노를 감출 수 없다”고 성토했다.
이어 국회와 정치권을 향해 협력을 촉구했다.
정 구청장은 “지금이라도 행정통합을 추진하고자 했던 초심으로 돌아가야 한다”며 “국가와 지역 발전을 위한 진정한 길이 무엇인지 함께 고민하고 지혜를 모아야 할 때”라고 강조했다.
한편 이날 법사위 문턱을 넘지 못한 ‘대전·충남 행정통합 특별법’은 수도권 일극체제 대응과 지역 경쟁력 강화를 위한 핵심 동력으로 추진되어 왔으나, 이번 보류 결정으로 인해 향후 추진 일정에 차질이 불가피할 것으로 보인다.
