이재명 대통령이 24일 충남대전 통합 관련해 "천년의 역사를 가진 광역 행정구역 통합을 충분한 공감 없이 일방 강행할 순 없다"고 밝혔다.
이 대통령은 이날 오후 엑스(X·구 트위터)를 통해 "(충남·대전 통합에) 야당·충남 시도의회가 통합을 반대하고 있다"며 이같이 적었다.
그러면서 "100%는 아니더라도 최소한 해당 지역이 대체적으로 공감하고 정치권 역시 대체로 동의해야 통합을 할 수 있는 것"이라고 덧붙였다.
'충남·대전 통합특별시 설치 특별법'은 국회 법제사법위원회에 상정됐으나 야당 반대로 보류된데다 당초 해당 논의에 불 지폈던 이 대통령이 한발 빼는 형국인 가운데 오는 6월 지방선거 전 처리는 불투명해진 것으로 보인다.
