【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=충북 진천군의 도내 최초·최대 규모로 조성한 중소형 수박단지에서 올해 생산 수박 정식이 본격적으로 시작됐다.
현재 흑피 애플수박 정식 작업이 한창 진행 중이며 품종별로 순차적으로 정식이 이뤄질 예정이다.
군은 변화하는 소비 트렌드에 발맞춰 1~2인 가구와 간편 소비 시장을 겨냥한 1.2kg 이하 미니수박을 중심으로 생산 체계를 구축해 왔다.
지역별로 △초평면(애플수박) △덕산읍(세자 수박) △진천읍(블랙 보스 수박) 등 각각 다른 품종을 주력 재배하고 있다.
생거진천 중소형수박은 높은 당도와 균일한 품질을 강점으로 전국 최고품질 농산물 생산단지로서의 명성을 이어가고 있다.
이와 함께 군의 중소형수박 재배단지는 기술보급 블렌딩 협력모델 공모사업에 선정돼 올해부터 2027년까지 총 10억 원의 예산이 투입된다.
이를 통해 중소형 수박 통합브랜드 개발과 병해충 바이러스 신속 진단체계 구축 등 품질 고급화와 경쟁력 강화를 추진할 계획이다.

한편 군에서 생산된 다양한 중소형 수박은 오는 5월 하순부터 본격 출하돼 소비자들을 만날 예정이다.
