이재명 대통령이 27일 전북 새만금을 대규모 '로봇·수소·AI(인공지능) 기반 미래 도시'로 육성하겠다는 구상을 밝힌다고 청와대가 전했다.
청와대는 이날 오전 "이 대통령이 전북 군산 새만금컨벤션센터에서 열리는 '새만금 로봇·수소·AI시티 투자협약식'에 참석해 대규모 첨단 산업 투자를 통한 미래도시 조성 비전을 제시한다"며 이같이 전했다.
그러면서 "이 대통령은 이번 투자가 기업 지역 진출을 이끄는 최고 모범 사례가 될 수 있도록 정부가 확실히 뒷받침하겠다는 의지를 밝힐 예정"이라며 "기업의 과감한 결단엔 더 과감한 지원으로 화답하면서 기업이 역량을 펼칠 수 있도록 규제·행정 지원 문턱을 파격적으로 낮추겠다는 방침도 강조할 계획"이라고 전했다.
또 "이번 투자가 새만금의 풍부한 재생에너지 기반으로 물에서 수소를 생산하는 새 산업 모델을 구현할 혁신적 실험장이 될 것"이라며 "이를 통해 새만금이 미래 청정산업 중심지로 도약할 수 있다는 비전도 제시한다"고 전했다.
이어 "이 대통령은 과거 식량 생산을 위해 간척되었던 새만금에 이젠 AI 데이터센터가 들어서게 된다면 삶 방식이 함께 진화하는 상징적 미래 도시로 자리매김할 것이라고 강조할 계획"이라고 전했다.
