이재명 대통령이 28일 신임 산림청장에 박은식 산림청 차장을 임명했다고 청와대가 전했다.
강유정 대변인은 이날 오후 서면 브리핑에서 “박 청장은 산림청 산림산업정책국장·국제산림협력관 등 주요 보직을 두루 역임해 산림정책 경험·전문성을 보유한 전문가”라며 “원만한 소통능력을 바탕으로 지자체·임업 종사자·환경단체 등 다양한 이해관계자들 의견 조율 능력이 뛰어나다는 평가를 받아왔다”며 이같이 전했다.
그러면서 ”철저한 산불 예방 대책·신속한 산불 진화 대응 역량을 강화하고, 산림정책 전반에 대한 이해·전문성을 바탕으로 산림청 혁신을 이끌 적임자”라고 했다.
또 “산림청장 인사를 우선 실시한 건 국민 안전과 밀접한 일이기 때문”이라며 “신임 산림청장이 봄철 산불 대비 체계적 산불 대비 태세를 확립하고, 산불 대응 역량을 강화해주길 기대한다”고 덧붙였다.
박 신임 청장은 1970년생으로 광주 숭일고·서울대 임학과 졸업 후 서울대 대학원에서 산림자원학 석·박사를 받고, 기술고시 36회로 공직에 들어왔다.
김인호 전 산림청장은 앞서 지난 21일 음주운전 사고를 낸 사실이 확인돼 직권 면직 됐다.
