대전시가 3월 1일 오전 시청 대강당에서 이장우 대전시장을 비롯해 독립유공자 후손, 보훈단체 관계자, 각 기관·단체장, 시민 등 500여 명이 자리를 함께한 가운데 제107주년 3·1절 기념식을 열고, 나라의 독립을 위해 헌신한 선열들의 희생과 뜻을 기렸다.
기념식에 앞서 이장우 시장과 주요 참석자들은 국립대전현충원을 찾아 독립운동가들의 묘역에 헌화하고 참배하며, 순국선열의 넋을 기리는 시간을 가졌다.
올해 독립선언서 낭독은 세대를 대표하는 시민들이 참여해 눈길을 끌었다.
광복회 대전지부 양준영 지부장을 비롯해 ‘나라사랑 백일장’에서 대상을 수상한 조영준·유소율 초등학생, 그리고 우송대학교 학군사관후보생이자 대전시 대학생 홍보단으로 활동 중인 남수현 학생이 함께 무대에 올라 독립의 의미를 되새겼다.
이장우 시장은 기념사를 통해 “107년 전 인동장터와 유성장터에서 울려 퍼졌던 만세의 함성이 오늘의 대전을 있게 한 뿌리”라며 “단재 신채호 선생의 정신을 이어받아 독립유공자와 그 유가족을 더욱 두텁게 예우하겠다”고 밝혔다.
대전시는 올해를 ‘대전 독립정신 계승 강화의 해’로 삼고, 순국선열 추모사업과 보훈공원 정비사업 등을 차질 없이 추진해 나갈 계획이다.
앞서 이장우 대전시장은 이날 오전 유성구 국립대전현충원을 찾아 조국 독립과 국가 수호를 위해 헌신한 애국지사와 호국영령을 참배했다.
이 시장은 또 제107주년 삼일절을 기념해 엑스포시민광장 일원에서 열린‘3·1절 자전거 대행진’에 참여해 시민들과 함께 태극기를 달고 자전거 행진에 나섰다

Daejeon City plans to designate this year as the "Year of Strengthening the Inheritance of Daejeon's Independence Spirit" and to smoothly pursue projects to commemorate fallen patriots and to renovate the Veterans Park.
Earlier, Mayor Lee Jang-woo participated in the ‘March 1st Bicycle Parade’ held in the Expo Citizens’ Plaza area to commemorate the 107th anniversary of the March 1st Movement, and rode a bicycle with citizens carrying the Taegeukgi.
