양승조 전 충남도지사(더불어민주당 충남도지사 예비후보)가 대전·충남 행정통합 무산 위기 속에서 국민의힘 김태흠 충남지사와 이장우 대전시장을 ‘고향을 팔아먹은 매향(賣鄕)’으로 규탄하며 정치적 심판을 촉구했다.
지난 2월 28일 대전 배재대학교 국제교류관 아트컨벤션홀에서 열린 북콘서트는 행사 시작과 동시에 ‘대전·충남 통합 결의대회’로 사실상 전환됐다. 법사위의 통합특별법 보류(2월 24일)로 통합 무산 위기가 고조된 가운데, 양 전 지사는 “책 설명 전에 통합 문제를 먼저 다뤄야 한다”며 직격탄을 날렸다.
양 전 지사는 통합 필요성을 수도권 집중 문제로 풀어갔다.
“수도권 면적 11.8%에 인구 50%가 넘고, 서울 아파트 평균 15억 원대인 현실 속 청년 희망이 사라지고 있다”며 청양군(출생 73명·사망 544명), 부여군(출생 102명·사망 163명) 사례를 들어 “대한민국 지방이 다 이런 상황”이라고 진단했다.

양 전 지사는 “세종시 행정복합도시에 20년간 21조 5천억 원이 투입됐는데, 통합 시 5년 만에 20조 원 지원”이라며 재정적 가치를 강조하고, “정치적 이익 위해 어마어마한 기회를 걷어찬 김태흠·이장우는 반드시 책임져야 한다”고 책임론을 제기했다.
특히 장동혁 국민의힘 대표, 김태흠 지사, 이장우 시장 등을 ‘매향5적(賣鄕五賊)’으로 비유했다. “이완용의 매국노처럼 고향을 팔아먹은 자들”이라며 “가슴에 새기고 정치적·역사적 심판을 하자”고 호소, 참석자들이 기립 박수와 함성으로 화답했다.
북콘서트 직후 양 전 지사는 대전시청 북문 앞 단식농성 천막을 방문해 민주당 대전시당의 ‘20조 지원·공공기관 이전 걷어찬 매향 규탄 및 통합 결의’ 릴레이 농성을 격려했다.
2월 27일 시작된 농성은 3월 4일까지 이어지며, 양 전 지사는 “통합 불씨를 지키는 분들, 반드시 함께 가겠다”며 참여자들의 손을 잡고 연대를 다졌다.
