세종특별자치시가 ‘한글문화 공동체’의 협력으로 탄생한 김진명 작가의 신작 소설 ‘세종의 나라’ 출간 소식을 전했다.
이 작품은 세종대왕의 한글 창제 과정을 통해 소통·관찰 리더십과 과학·문화 융합 정신을 생생하게 그려낸 서사소설로, 지난달 24일 정식 출간됐다.
김진명 작가는 지난해 10월 10일 조치원1927아트센터에서 열린 ‘한글문화 공동체 출범식’에서 집필 계획을 처음 발표했다. ‘한글문화 공동체’는 세종시, 세종대왕기념사업회, 한글학회, 교보문고, 헤럴드미디어그룹, 우노101, 이타북스, 김진명 작가 등 공공·민간이 참여한 협력체로, 한글문화 진흥을 목표로 한다.
작품 완성을 위해 지난해 11월 18일 세종시립도서관에서 ‘세종의 나라 지혜 나눔 독서토론회’를 열어 세종대왕기념사업회, 세종지역학센터, 시민 등과 한글 창제 배경·의미, 세종대왕의 통치 철학과 고뇌를 논의했다. 김 작가는 이러한 시민 의견을 적극 반영해 세종대왕의 리더십을 소설에 녹여냈다.
세종시는 한글문화도시로서의 정체성 확립을 위해 한글의 산업화·세계화에 지속 노력할 방침이다.

Sejong Special Self-Governing City announced the publication of author Kim Jin-myeong's new novel, "The Land of Sejong," which was created through collaboration with the Hangul Culture Community.
This narrative novel vividly portrays King Sejong's journey through the creation of Hangul, embodying his leadership in communication and observation, as well as the spirit of science and culture convergence. It was officially published on the 24th of last month and is currently available online and in bookstores in Sejong City.
Author Kim Jin-myeong first announced his writing plans at the "Hangul Culture Community Launch Ceremony" held at the Jochiwon 1927 Art Center on October 10th of last year. The "Hangul Culture Community" is a collaborative effort between the public and private sectors, including Sejong City, the King Sejong Memorial Society, the Korean Language Society, Kyobo Book Centre, Herald Media Group, Uno 101, Ita Books, and author Kim Jin-myeong. To complete the novel, the "Sejong's National Wisdom Sharing Reading Discussion" was held at the Sejong City Library on November 18th of last year.
