대전시가 유성구 학하동 일원 76만 3,497㎡ 부지에 대규모 스포츠와 주거 복합단지를 조성하는 서남부종합스포츠타운 건설 사업을 본격 시작했다.
3월 5일 용계동 현장에서 열린 착공식에서는 1조 437억 원 규모의 이 사업이 2029년 완공을 목표로 추진된다고 발표됐다.
이번 사업은 크게 두 단계로 나눠진다. 1단계 도시개발에 8,301억 원을 투자해 공동주택 4,300여 세대와 단독주택, 기반 시설을 마련한다.
2단계에서는 2,136억 원을 들여 국제대회가 가능하면서도 공연과 전시 등 문화행사도 함께 소화할 수 있는 종합운동장과 4,650석 규모의 오상욱체육관, 축구·육상 겸용 준비운동장, 10면의 테니스장 등 스포츠 시설을 조성한다.
