포항해양경찰서(서장 이근안)는 6일 오전 8시 40분쯤 포항시 칠포항 동방 약 13.5km(약 7.5해리) 해상에서 어선 A호(4톤급·승선원 2명)가 침수 중이라는 신고를 포항VTS를 통해 접수했다고 밝혔다.
신고를 접수한 포항해경은 즉시 승선원들에게 구명조끼 착용을 지시하는 한편 경비함정과 연안구조정, 구조대, 항공대 등 구조세력을 현장으로 급파했다. 또한 만일의 상황에 대비해 인근 조업 어선에도 구조 협조를 요청했다.
현장에 먼저 도착한 호미곶 연안구조정과 P-118정은 인근에서 조업 중이던 B호(7톤급·승선원 4명)와 함께 상황을 확인한 결과, A호 승선원 2명 모두 건강 상태에 이상이 없고 선박도 침몰 위험이 없는 상태에서 예인 준비가 진행되고 있는 것을 확인했다.
포항해경 조사 결과 A호의 침수는 선박 축계기에서 해수가 유입되면서 발생한 것으로 파악됐다. 해경은 인근 어선과 협력해 A호를 안전하게 예인했으며, 승선원 2명 모두 안전관리 하에 무사히 호미곶항으로 입항했다.
포항해경 관계자는 “침수 사고는 짧은 시간 안에 침몰이나 인명사고로 이어질 수 있다”며 “이상 상황이 발생하면 즉시 해경에 신고해 달라”고 당부했다.
