이재명 대통령이 8일 “대통령 되기까지 가졌던 이상·가치·약속을 결코 포기해선 안 되겠지만 대통령·집권 세력이 되었다고 마음대로 다 할 순 없으며 그래서도 안 될 것”이라고 밝혔다.
이 대통령은 전날 엑스(X·구 트위터)에 올린 ‘책임과 권력’ 글에서 “나의 의견만이 진리·정의고, 너의 의견은 불의·거짓이란 태도는 극한적 대립·실패 원인이 될 수 있다”며 이같이 적었다.
그러면서 “권한을 가진다는 건 동일한 양 책임을 진다는 걸 의미한다”며 “대통령의 제일 큰 책임은 국민을 통합하는 것이며 대통령이 되기까진 한쪽을 대표하나 대통령 된 순간부터 국민 전체를 대표해야 한다”고 했다.
또 "모든 공적 현안 결정 때 토론하고 의견 모으고, 대세에 지장없는 한 조정·타협하는 이유는 어떤 의견은 틀리고 옳아서가 아닌 모든 의견이 나름 타당성이 있기 때문”이라며 “주장·비판하는 것으로 충분한 입장과 주장하는 만큼 대안 내고 그 결과에 무한책임을 지는 입장은 또 다르다”고 했다.
이어 "마음 가는 대로 감정 나는 대로 내 이익대로 하고 싶은 게 인지상정이겠으나 권한만큼 무거운 책임을 져야 하는 공인은 공정한 제3자 시각·냉철한 이성으로 국가·국민 최대 다수에 최대 행복이 되는 길이 무엇인지 치열하게 찾아야 한다”고 했다.
더불어 “아무리 잘 포장하고 숨겨도 집단지성체로 진화한 국민 대중을 속일 순 없다”며 “권한·책임 크기는 동일하다는 사실을 위대한 국민 지성의 무서움을 결코 잊지 말아야 한다”고 덧붙였다.
