이재명 대통령이 8일 세계 여성의 날을 맞아 “차이가 차별이 되지 않고 다름이 배제 이유가 되지 않는 사회를 만들겠다”고 밝혔다.
이 대통령은 이날 오전 엑스(X·구 트위터)에 "3월 8일 오늘은 세계 여성의 날”이라며 “여성 인권 신장을 위해 애써 온 분들의 지난한 발걸음을 되새기며 사회 성평등 과제를 다시 돌아보게 된다”며 이같이 적었다.
그러면서 “국가인권위에 따르면 한국에선 이미 1920년대 나혜석·박인덕 선생 등 여성운동가들이 세계 여성의 날을 기념해 왔다”며 “일제 탄압으로 맥이 끊겼다가 1985년 제1회 한국여성대회 계기로 공식적 기념이 다시 이어지기 시작했다”고 전했다.
또 “얼마 전까지만 해도 여성가족부 폐지 공약을 내건 전 정부로 인해 성평등 정책이 축소·후퇴하는 시기를 겪었다”며 “그 흐름을 되돌려 성평등 정책을 제자리로 복원하고 과거 공백을 채우며 실질적 성평등 사회로 나아가고 있다”고 했다.
이어 “누구나 안전·존엄하게 살아갈 수 있는 공동체를 반드시 만들겠다”며 “대한민국이 명실상부한 성평등 국가로 거듭날 수 있도록 주어진 역할·책임을 다하겠다”고 덧붙였다.
