[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시가 사우디아라비아 공공투자펀드(PIF)가 후원하는 프로 골프 리그 리브 골프(LIV Golf)의 ‘2026 리브 골프 코리아’를 유치했다고 9일 밝혔다.
대회는 2026년 5월 28일부터 31일까지 나흘간 부산 아시아드컨트리클럽에서 열린다. 박형준 시장은 “리브 골프 코리아의 부산 개최를 환영하며, 부산의 국제적 위상 제고와 지역경제 활성화, 스포츠·관광산업 발전에 기여할 것”이라고 말했다.
세계 1, 2위 선수 참가… 한국팀 안병훈 등 출전
2022년 출범한 리브 골프는 높은 상금으로 존 람(’23 PGA 챔피언십 2위 등), 호아킨 니만(’25 PGA 1회 우승 등) 등 세계 정상급 선수들이 대거 출전하는 대회다. 2026 시즌은 10개국(북미·유럽·아프리카·아시아) 14개 대회로 구성되며, 총상금 약 4억2천만 달러(약 6천100억 원), 대회별 상금 3천만 달러(약 440억 원) 규모다. 한국팀은 안병훈(캡틴), 대니 리, 송영한, 김민규가 출전한다.
인천 이어 부산으로… 아시아 5번째 개최지
지난해 인천 잭 니클라우스 골프클럽에서 첫 국내 대회가 열린 데 이어 2026년 대회는 협의 끝에 부산으로 결정됐다. 시즌은 2월 4~7일 사우디 리야드에서 시작해 호주 애들레이드(2월 12~15일), 북미(미국 5개 주·멕시코), 유럽(스페인·영국), 아프리카(남아공), 아시아(홍콩·싱가포르·부산) 순으로 8월 말까지 진행된다. 아시아에서는 사우디, 호주, 홍콩, 싱가포르에 이어 부산이 다섯 번째다.
공연 결합 ‘스포테인먼트’… 젊은 층 유입 기대
리브 골프는 개최국 대표 아티스트를 초청해 대회와 공연을 결합한 페스티벌형 이벤트로 PGA·DP월드투어와 차별화된다. 2025 국내 대회에서는 지드래곤, 아이브, 다이나믹듀오, 거미 등이 참여해 골프 팬 외 일반 관람객까지 끌어모았다. 젊은 층 참여 비중이 높고 글로벌 팬 관심도가 큰 콘텐츠로 평가된다.
관광·마이스·경제 활성화 효과
부산시는 국내외 관람객·관계자 방문 증가로 숙박·음식·교통·쇼핑 등 소비 확대를 기대한다. 전 세계 200개국 이상, 9억 가구에 중계되는 만큼 부산의 국제 위상 제고 효과도 크다. 리브 골프에 따르면 2월 호주 애들레이드 대회는 4일간 11만5천명 이상 방문해 역대 최다 기록을 세웠고, 6월 미국 뉴올리언스 대회는 1천150개 일자리와 4천만 달러(약 540억 원) 경제효과가 예상된다.
박형준 시장은 “부산의 따뜻한 환대 속에서 선수·팬·방문객들이 도시 매력을 경험할 것”이라며 “지역경제 파급효과를 분석하고 스포츠 산업 성장·인재 육성에 적극 나서겠다”고 덧붙였다.

The season kicked off February 4-7 in Riyadh, followed by Adelaide (Feb 12-15), then U.S. (five states), Mexico, Spain, UK, South Africa, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Busan through late August.
'Sportainment' fusion: Concerts draw young crowds beyond golf fans
Unlike PGA or DP World Tour, LIV Golf blends matches with local artist performances in a festival vibe. Last year's Korea event featured G-Dragon, IVE, Dynamic Duo, and Gumy, pulling in non-golf fans and boosting youth turnout with global appeal.
Tourism, MICE boom expected with global broadcast reach
Busan anticipates surges in visitors driving hotel, dining, transport, and shopping spending. Broadcast to over 200 countries and 900 million households, it elevates the city's stature. LIV data shows February's Adelaide event drew a record 115,000+ over four days; June's New Orleans projects 1,150 jobs and $40 million ($540 billion KRW) impact.
Mayor Park added: "We welcome LIV Golf Korea and expect players, fans, and visitors to experience Busan's warmth and charm—fueling economic ripple effects, sports growth, and talent development."
