민주당 경북도당 공직선거후보자추천관리위원회(위원장 오일영)는 지난 2월 9일부터 20일까지 경북지역 22개 기초단체장과 광역·기초의회 후보자 공모를 실시한 데 이어, 오는 13일까지 면접과 함께 2인 이상 경쟁 선거구에 대한 적합도 조사를 진행한다고 밝혔다.

앞서 경북도당 예비후보자자격심사위원회는 세 차례에 걸친 예비후보자 자격심사를 통해 신청자 170여 명에 대한 적격 여부를 결정했다. 이 가운데 공천 공모에 신청한 기초단체장과 광역의원 후보들을 대상으로 지난 6일부터 13일까지 면접과 적합도 조사가 이뤄지고 있다.
기초단체장 후보 공모에는 경산시장 김기현, 영천시장 이정훈, 포항시장 박희정, 구미시장 김철호, 울진군수 김진원, 봉화군수 이상식, 영양군수 김상훈, 울릉군수 정성환, 예천군수 윤동춘, 칠곡군수 김시환, 영덕군수 강부송 후보가 단독 등록했다.
또 안동시장에는 이삼걸·권용수, 영주시장에는 김동조·박완서, 청송군수에는 임기진·배대윤 후보가 각각 복수로 신청해 공관위는 이들 선거구를 대상으로 적합도 조사를 진행할 계획이다.
경북도당 공관위는 오는 15일 오전 10시 경북신도청 소재 스탠포드호텔 1층 그랜드볼룸에서 지방선거 사상 처음으로 기초단체장 후보 18명과 광역의원 후보 4명을 대상으로 공개면접을 실시한다. 후보자들은 정견과 당선 전략 등을 발표할 예정이다.
공관위는 공개면접 결과 등을 종합해 오는 17일 1차 공천 결과를 발표한다. 이어 기초의원 후보들을 대상으로도 17일부터 나흘간 면접을 진행한 뒤 24일 2차 공천 결과를 발표할 계획이다.
한편 경북도당은 15일 진행되는 후보자 공개면접을 당원들에게 온라인으로 생중계할 예정이다. 또 후보 공모 신청이 없는 선거구에 대해서는 경쟁력 있는 인물을 추가 발굴해 공모를 진행한다는 방침이다.
