(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 부천시가 지난 6일 광명시를 방문해 국제연합(UN)대학이 인증하는 지속가능발전교육 거점도시(RCE) 협력 가능성을 논의하고 수도권 지속가능발전교육(ESD) 확산을 위한 협력 방안을 모색했다고 밝혔다.
부천시에 따르면, 이번 방문은 부천시가 추진 중인 지속가능발전교육 거점도시(RCE) 인증 준비 과정의 일환으로 마련됐으며, 전국에서 일곱 번째로 RCE 인증을 받은 광명시의 운영 사례를 공유받고 향후 협력 방안을 논의하기 위해 진행됐다.
협의에는 부천시 정책기획과와 부천시지속가능발전협의회 관계자가 참석해 민관 거버넌스 기반의 RCE 추진 방향과 협력 방안을 논의했다.
광명시에서는 탄소중립과 지속가능발전팀 관계자가 참석해 양 도시 간 지속가능발전교육 정책 추진 현황을 공유하고 협력 가능성에 대해 의견을 나눴다.
협의에서는 인접 RCE 지자체 간 협력 모델 구축과 권역 기반 협력 방향, 시민 참여형 지속가능발전교육 프로그램 운영 사례 등에 대해 의견을 교환했다.
특히, 부천시는 RCE 신청 과정에서 필요한 협력계획서 작성과 관련해 광명시와 협력 방향을 논의하고, 향후 협력 내용을 반영한 협력계획을 마련할 계획이다.
부천시는 앞으로 문화콘텐츠와 학교 교육 기반의 지속가능발전교육을 중심으로 지속가능발전교육(ESD) 사업을 확대할 방침이다.
이를 통해 환경과 시민 참여 중심의 ESD 정책을 추진해 온 광명시와 상호 보완적인 역할을 할 것으로 보고 있다.
