한국화 작가 배형필(정읍 예촌 미술학원) 원장의 두 번째 개인전 '자연과 함께 걷는 이야기' 전(展)을 오는 19일까지 정읍새마을금고 우리동네 MG갤러리(4층)에서 동ㆍ서양을 넘나드는 최근작 23점을 만날 수 있다.
MG갤러리는 국내외 유명 작가의 작품 전시 및 지역 작가들이 참여하는 다양한 전시 프로젝트를 통해 주민들이 일상에서 예술을 경험할 수 있도록 기획됐다.
이번 전시는 배형필 작가가 2024년 첫 개인전 '길을 걷다 바라보는 풍경' 전시회 이후 그동안 이렇다 할 작품을 내놓지 않았으나 정읍새마을금고의 '지역사회와 함께 걷는 예술 이야기' 프로젝트 세 번째 기획전시 작가에 당선돼 마련됐다.
배 원장은 남성 작가라는 것이 실감 나지 않을 만큼, 섬세한 스케치 기법의 여성성 짙은 서정성이 두드러지는 점에서 지역의 대표적 로컬작가로 알려져 있다.
특히 유독 한국화와 서양화를 넘나드는 크로스오버 작품들이 눈에 띈다.
한지와 수묵ㆍ아크릴과 수묵담채가 하나로 어우러지는 작품들이 관객들의 눈길을 사로잡는다.
대표적인 작품을 살펴보면 전통 수묵 기법을 활용해 2017년 완성한 작품 '오솔길(180×120cm)'에 새롭게 인물을 추가해 업그레이드했다.
