【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포스코 포항제철소가 중앙수리섹션 가공공장의 혁신공장 활동을 마무리하고 준공식을 개최했다. 약 10개월간 진행된 이번 프로젝트는 노후 설비의 성능을 끌어올리고 작업장 안전 환경을 개선하는 데 초점을 맞춰 추진됐다.
혁신공장은 포스코 포항제철소가 매년 4~5개 공장을 선정해 진행하는 현장 개선 프로그램이다. 안전·환경 시설물과 직원 편의시설 개선을 중심으로 작업 환경을 정비하고, 공장 경쟁력을 지속적으로 강화하는 것을 목표로 한다.
중앙수리섹션 가공공장은 지난해 3월 혁신공장 활동에 착수했다. 이후 9월 중간 멘토링을 통해 활동 방향을 점검하고 개선 과제를 보완하는 등 체계적인 추진 과정을 거쳐 이번에 활동을 마무리했다.
이번 혁신공장 활동을 통해 가공공장 내 주요 설비를 전면 점검하고 노후 부품을 교체해 가공 정밀도를 높였다. 또한 안전장치 전수 점검과 외부 전문기관 진단 결과를 반영해 가공작업 안전관리 체계를 새롭게 정립했다.
작업자 동선 분석을 바탕으로 설비를 재배치하고 안전통로를 신설했으며, 공구대를 개선해 작업 효율성과 현장 안전성을 동시에 높였다.

포스코 포항제철소 관계자는 “이번 중앙수리섹션 가공공장의 혁신공장 활동은 현장 구성원들이 함께 참여해 개선점을 발굴하고 실행했다는 점에서 의미가 크다”며 “앞으로도 혁신공장 활동을 통해 안전 기반의 설비 강건화를 달성하고 안정적인 공장 가동에 기여하겠다”고 말했다.
한편 포항제철소는 이번 중앙수리섹션 혁신공장 활동을 통해 2014년 이후 총 35개의 혁신공장을 구축했다. 앞으로도 정비 기술 경쟁력을 강화하고 보다 안전하고 쾌적한 작업 환경을 조성하기 위한 노력을 이어갈 계획이다.

Through this Innovation Factory activity, major equipment within the machining plant was comprehensively overhauled and aging components were replaced to enhance machining precision. Furthermore, a comprehensive safety equipment inspection and assessment by an external expert agency were incorporated to establish a new safety management system for machining operations.
Based on worker movement analysis, equipment was rearranged, safety passageways were installed, and tool racks were improved to simultaneously improve work efficiency and on-site safety.
A POSCO Pohang Works representative stated, "This innovation plant activity at the Central Repair Section processing plant is significant in that field members participated together to identify and implement improvements. We will continue to strengthen our safety-based equipment and contribute to stable plant operations through this innovation plant activity."
Meanwhile, Pohang Works has established a total of 35 innovation plants since 2014 through this Central Repair Section innovation plant activity.
