박대기 포항시장 예비후보는 12일 포항의 미래 성장과 시민 삶의 질 향상을 위한 ‘포항 대전환 5대 핵심 공약’을 발표했다.
박 예비후보는 “포항은 대한민국 산업화를 이끌어온 도시이지만 이제는 도시의 체질을 바꾸는 새로운 도약이 필요한 시점”이라며 “20년 중앙 경험과 인적 네트워크를 바탕으로 기한 내 결과로 증명하는 시정을 펼치겠다”고 밝혔다.
그가 제시한 5대 핵심 공약은 △영일만회의 출범 △민생 속도행정 △미래 첨단전략산업 도시 전환 △의료 인프라 혁신 △연간 관광객 2천만 명 시대 실현이다.
박 예비후보는 취임 1개월 내 산업계·노동계·교육계·의료계·소상공인 등이 참여하는 협의체 ‘영일만회의’를 출범시켜 지역 현안을 논의하는 정책 플랫폼으로 운영하겠다고 밝혔다.
또 취임 1주일 내 철강 산업 현장에 민원 청취를 위한 제2포항시장실을 설치하고, 6개월 내 쓰레기 종량제 봉투 가격 인하, 1년 내 해파랑길 안전 정비와 정화 캠페인 추진, 3년 내 죽도시장 주차장 확대와 특화거리 조성 등 ‘민생 속도행정’을 추진하겠다고 제시했다.
산업 분야에서는 SMR(소형모듈원전) 밸류체인 구축과 K-방산 클러스터 조성, 차세대 드론 소재·부품·장비 산업 육성 등을 통해 철강 중심 산업 구조를 첨단 전략산업 중심으로 다변화하겠다는 구상을 밝혔다. 또한 이차전지와 수소, 바이오 산업 육성과 함께 AI 선도 도시로 도약하겠다는 계획도 제시했다.
의료 분야에서는 포스텍 연구중심 의대와 스마트병원 설립을 추진하고 경북 최초 상급종합병원 지정을 목표로 의료 인프라를 강화하겠다고 밝혔다.
또 ‘영일만 국가정원 프로젝트’와 해안·도심을 잇는 시티 트레일 조성, 난파선 인공어초 기반 스킨스쿠버 명소 조성 등을 통해 연간 관광객 2천만 명 시대를 열겠다는 관광 비전도 제시했다.

안승대 포항시장 예비후보도 이날 포항시청 브리핑룸에서 ‘글로벌 강철도시 포항’ 도시 브랜딩 구상을 발표했다.
안 예비후보는 철강 산업과 문화예술을 결합한 ‘Steel Art City 포항’ 프로젝트를 추진해 스틸아트와 산업유산 예술 콘텐츠를 육성하고, 제철 산업의 역사와 문화를 도시 브랜드로 발전시키겠다고 밝혔다.
또 포항의 해양 환경을 활용해 국제 철인3종 경기 대회를 대표 스포츠 행사로 육성하고 복합체육컴플렉스를 조성해 국제대회 유치와 스포츠 관광산업을 활성화하겠다는 계획을 제시했다.
이와 함께 방사광가속기 등 첨단 과학 인프라를 기반으로 ‘철의 도시에서 빛의 도시로 이어지는 미래 과학 도시’ 스토리를 담은 ‘신광(神光) 도시’ 브랜드를 구축하겠다는 구상도 내놓았다. 철 소재 기반 도시 디자인과 스틸 구조물 공공디자인을 확대해 ‘Steel Architecture City’라는 도시 이미지를 만들겠다는 방안도 포함됐다.
안 예비후보는 같은 날 청렴하고 공정한 선거문화를 위한 ‘공정 선거 선언’도 발표했다. 그는 “돈 선거와 비방, 허위사실 유포가 아닌 정책과 비전으로 평가받는 선거가 돼야 한다”며 “치열한 경쟁 속에서도 선거 이후에는 하나의 포항으로 힘을 모아야 한다”고 강조했다.

이칠구 국민의힘 포항시장 예비후보는 이날 포항테크노파크 대강당에서 포항의 산업 구조를 AI(인공지능) 중심으로 전환하는 ‘AI 산업 고도화 전략’을 발표했다.
이 예비후보는 철강 중심 산업도시인 포항을 AI와 첨단산업이 결합된 미래형 산업 거점도시로 탈바꿈시키겠다는 구상을 제시했다.
핵심 전략으로는 ‘포항 AI 산업 클러스터’ 조성과 대규모 데이터센터 유치를 통한 동해안권 AI 산업 허브 구축을 내세웠다. 포스텍과 지역 연구기관을 중심으로 AI 연구소와 기업, 스타트업을 집적화해 첨단 산업 생태계를 조성하겠다는 계획이다.
또 철강과 이차전지 등 포항의 주력 산업에 AI 기반 스마트 공정을 도입해 생산성을 높이고 글로벌 경쟁력을 강화하겠다고 밝혔다. 이와 함께 ‘AI 스타트업 100개 육성 프로젝트’와 창업펀드 조성을 통해 청년 창업 생태계를 구축하겠다는 방안도 제시했다.
인재 양성 방안으로는 포스텍과 한동대 등 지역 대학과 연계한 ‘AI 인재 1만 명 양성 프로그램’을 추진하고, 교통·재난관리·복지 분야에 AI를 접목한 스마트 행정도 구현하겠다고 설명했다.
이칠구 예비후보는 “포항은 전통 산업 구조를 넘어 AI와 첨단기술이 주도하는 새로운 시대로 나아가야 한다”며 “포항 산업 지도를 AI 중심으로 재편해 다음 100년을 책임질 성장 동력을 만들겠다”고 밝혔다.

공원식 국민의힘 포항시장 예비후보는 지난 10일 선거사무실에서 정책간담회를 열고 청년 주거복지와 일자리 정책을 강조했다.
공 예비후보는 포항시가 추진 중인 청년·신혼부부 대상 ‘천원주택’ 사업이 100호 모집에 1055건이 접수돼 10.6대 1의 경쟁률을 기록한 것과 관련해 “청년 주거복지를 단순한 임대료 지원을 넘어 청년이 머물고 결혼하고 아이를 키울 수 있는 도시 정책으로 확대해야 한다”고 밝혔다.
그는 “포항을 청년이 머물기 좋은 도시로 발전시켜야 도시가 젊어지고 활력이 넘친다”며 “주거복지도 중요하지만 무엇보다 양질의 일자리가 우선돼야 한다”고 강조했다.
이를 위해 중앙상가에 제2테크노파크를 유치해 청년 스타트업을 지원하고, 소상공인을 위한 배달앱 보급과 AI 디지털센터 건립을 통해 지역 산업 전반에 AI 활용을 확대하겠다는 구상을 밝혔다.
