충남 논산시가 시민 문화·체험 공간의 새 장을 열 준비에 속도를 내고 있다. 백성현 논산시장은 12일 복합문화체육센터 ‘온담’과 ‘별빛누리 천문대’ 개관을 앞두고 시설 전반을 점검하며 안전 확보에 만전을 기했다.
논산시 관촉로 일원에 조성된 ‘온담(복합문화체육센터)’은 교육과 문화, 여가를 아우르는 생활형 복합공간으로, 실내 스포츠실과 예체능 강의실, 요리 체험실 등 다양한 시민 맞춤형 시설을 갖췄다.
특히 논산의 대표 특산물인 딸기·고구마·곶감의 색감을 활용한 인테리어와 영유아 휴게공간, 가족 화장실을 마련해 ‘시민 중심 문화시설’로 조성됐다.
온담은 2024년 7월 착공 이후 공정 마무리 단계에 있으며, 오는 27일 준공을 거쳐 31일 공식 개관한다. 개관식은 ‘별빛누리 천문대’의 문을 여는 행사와 함께 진행된다.
이날 점검에는 공공건축품질자문단과 관계 부서가 참여해 구조 안정성, 안전 설비, 이용자 동선 등을 확인했다. 백성현 시장은 “많은 시민이 이용할 시설인 만큼 사전 점검과 안전 검사를 철저히 해달라”며 “완성도 높은 시민 공간으로 마무리하라”고 당부했다.
이어 별빛누리 천문대를 찾은 백 시장은 망원경 및 관측기기를 살피며 운영 준비 상황을 확인했다.
