민주평화통일자문회의 안양시협의회(회장 박경애)가 지난 11일, 지역사회의 평화통일 공감대 확산을 이끌어갈 ‘제6기 평화통일 리더십 아카데미’ 개강식을 성황리에 개최했다.
안양시 내 시민사회단체, 관공서, 경찰서 등 각계각층의 오피니언 리더 55명이 참여한 이번 아카데미는, 급변하는 국제 정세 속에서 정확한 통일 정보와 체계적인 학습을 통해 지역사회 내 통일 리더를 양성하고자 마련되었다.
박경애 회장은 인사말을 통해 “세계 질서가 재편되는 시기에 우리의 통일 정책 방향을 설정하고, 시민과 함께하는 평화 실천 방안을 고민하는 것이 무엇보다 중요하다”라며, “이번 교육이 미래를 준비하는 통일 리더 양성의 산실이 되고, 기수 간의 깊은 교류와 화합의 장이 되길 바란다”고 밝혔다.
개강식 이후 이어진 제1강에서는 아주대학교 아주통일연구소 한기호 교수가 ‘국민 공감의 대북·통일 정책’을 주제로 강연을 펼쳤다. 참가자들은 북한의 정책 변화를 심도 있게 분석하며, 한반도 평화 정착을 위한 시민사회의 역할에 대해 뜨거운 토론을 이어갔다.
이번 아카데미는 3월 31일까지 매주 수요일 저녁, 각 분야 전문가들의 강연과 토론 형식으로 진행된다. 특히 온·오프라인 병행 운영을 통해 교육의 효율성을 높였으며, 전 과정을 성실히 이수한 수강생에게는 수료증이 수여될 예정이다.
안대종 아카데미 총동문회장은 “전쟁과 갈등으로 어려운 시기일수록 통일을 위한 밑거름을 다지는 노력이 절실하다”며 이번 기수들의 적극적인 참여를 독려했다.
한편, 2019년부터 시작된 민주평통 안양시협의회 아카데미는 그간 5기에 걸친 교육 과정을 통해 탄탄한 총동문회를 구축해왔다. 협의회 측은 이번 제6기 과정을 통해 배출될 통일 리더들이 지역사회 전반에 평화통일의 가치를 확산하고, 민간 차원의 통일 공감대 형성에 중추적인 역할을 할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

The Ansan City Council of the National Unification Advisory Council (Chairperson Park Kyung-ae) successfully held the opening ceremony for the ‘6th Peace Unification Leadership Academy’ on the 11th, which aims to lead the expansion of a consensus on peaceful unification within the local community.
Participating in this academy were 55 opinion leaders from various sectors within Anyang City, including civil society organizations, government offices, and police stations. In her opening remarks, Chairperson Park Kyung-ae stated, “At a time when the global order is being reshaped, it is of paramount importance to establish the direction of our unification policy and to deliberate on practical ways to achieve peace together with citizens.” She added, “I hope this training becomes a cradle for nurturing unification leaders who prepare for the future, and a venue for deep exchange and harmony among the cohorts.” In the first lecture following the opening ceremony, Professor Han Ki-ho of the Ajou Institute for Unification Studies at Ajou University delivered a presentation on the theme of "North Korea and Unification Policies Based on Public Consensus." Participants analyzed North Korea's policy changes in depth and engaged in a heated discussion regarding the role of civil society in establishing peace on the Korean Peninsula.
This academy will be held every Wednesday evening until March 31, featuring lectures and discussions by experts in various fields. Notably, the program has enhanced educational efficiency through a hybrid online and offline format, and certificates of completion will be awarded to students who faithfully complete the entire course.
Ahn Dae-jong, President of the Academy Alumni Association, encouraged active participation from the current cohort, stating, "Efforts to lay the groundwork for unification are urgently needed, especially during difficult times marked by war and conflict."
Meanwhile, the Academy of the Anyang City Council of the National Unification Advisory Council, which began in 2019, has built a solid alumni association through its five-session educational program. The council expects that the unification leaders produced through this 6th course will spread the values of peaceful unification throughout the local community and play a pivotal role in forming a consensus on unification at the civilian level.
