이재명 대통령이 15일 제66주년 3·15 의거 기념식에 참석해 "대한민국을 대표하는 대통령으로서 국가 권력에 의해 큰 아픔을 겪으신 3·15 의거 희생자 유가족분들께 진심 어린 사과·위로 말씀을 드린다"고 밝혔다.
이 대통령은 이날 오전 경남 창원시 국립 3·15 민주묘지에서 열린 기념식 기념사에서 이같이 공식 사과 후 잠시 연설대 옆으로 나와 허리 숙여 인사했다. 현직 대통령의 3·15 의거 기념식 참석은 지난 2000년 고 김대중 전 대통령 이후 26년 만이다.

이 대통령은 "국가·공동체를 위한 희생에 합당한 대우로 보답하면 할수록 대한민국 민주주의는 더욱 굳건해질 것"이라며 "화합·상생·배려 정신은 더욱 빛나게 될 것"이라고 했다.
