【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=에코프로가 전고체 배터리 소재 개발 로드맵을 공개한 ‘인터배터리(INTERBATTERY) 2026’ 전시를 성황리에 마무리했다.

에코프로는 지난 3월 11일부터 13일까지 3일간 열린 인터배터리 2026 전시 기간 동안 약 3만 명의 관람객이 전시 부스를 방문했다고 15일 밝혔다. 행사 기간 동안 자동차 OEM과 배터리 셀 제조사 등 30여 개 잠재 고객사와 개별 미팅을 진행하며 사업 협력 방안을 논의했다.
전시 기간 에코프로 부스에는 현대자동차그룹과 토요타 등 글로벌 완성차 업체를 비롯해 삼성SDI, SK온, LG에너지솔루션, CATL, 파나소닉 등 주요 배터리 셀 제조사 경영진이 방문해 관심을 보였다.
특히 관람객들은 ‘꿈의 배터리’로 불리는 전고체 배터리 소재 기술과 개발 로드맵에 높은 관심을 나타냈다. 에코프로는 황화물계 고체 전해질을 비롯해 전고체용 양극재, 리튬메탈 음극재 등 전고체 배터리 핵심 소재를 고객사와 협력해 개발하고 있다.
고체 전해질의 경우 연간 50톤 규모의 파일럿 라인을 확보 중이며, 고객사 일정에 맞춰 오는 2027년 상용화를 추진할 계획이다.
최문호 에코프로비엠 대표는 “전고체 배터리는 휴머노이드 로봇이나 도심항공교통(UAM)처럼 에너지 밀도가 높은 분야에서 먼저 활용될 가능성이 높다”며 “고객사와 긴밀히 협력해 품질을 지속적으로 높여가고 있다”고 말했다.
행사 마지막 날인 13일에는 최주선 삼성SDI 사장이 에코프로 전시관을 찾아 전고체 소재 개발 계획을 살펴본 뒤 “배터리 양극 소재 경쟁력은 셀 경쟁력에 매우 중요한 요소”라며 “양질의 소재 공급을 통해 한국 배터리 밸류체인을 더욱 강화하자”고 강조했다.
이 밖에도 동원그룹, 포스코홀딩스, LS MnM, LG화학, 고려아연, 한국전구체(KPC), 두산에너빌리티 등 이차전지 및 에너지 분야 주요 기업 경영진들이 에코프로 부스를 방문해 소재 개발과 공정 협력 등 다양한 사업 기회를 모색했다.
동원그룹 김재철 명예회장은 이동채 에코프로 창업주와 만나 유럽 공장 건설 배경과 양극소재 조달 비용 등에 대해 의견을 나눴다. 이동채 창업주는 “유럽 역내 규제에 선제적으로 대응하기 위해 국내 양극재 기업 최초로 헝가리 데브레첸에 양극재 공장을 준공했으며 올해 상업 생산을 계획하고 있다”고 설명했다.
전시관에는 일본, 캐나다, 핀란드 등 해외 이차전지 밸류체인 기업 관계자들의 방문도 이어졌으며, 다양한 협력 제안이 이뤄졌다. 또한 서울대학교, 포항공과대학교(POSTECH), 부산대학교 등 주요 대학 학생들도 부스를 찾아 차세대 배터리 소재 기술을 살펴봤다.
한편 이동채 창업주를 비롯한 에코프로그룹 주요 경영진은 전시장을 둘러보며 셀 제조사와 소재·리사이클 기업 부스를 방문해 기술 동향을 점검하고 업계 관계자들과 의견을 교환했다. 송호준 에코프로 대표, 최문호 에코프로비엠 대표, 김윤태 에코프로이노베이션 대표 등 주요 계열사 경영진들도 고객사 미팅을 진행하며 협력 확대와 고객 다변화에 나섰다.
에코프로 관계자는 “에코프로는 글로벌 최고 수준의 하이니켈 양극소재 기술력을 바탕으로 리사이클 기술 고도화를 통해 원가 경쟁력을 확보해 왔다”며 “리사이클 기술을 기반으로 다양한 미래 신사업을 구상하고 있다”고 밝혔다.

EcoPro successfully concluded its participation in ‘InterBattery 2026,’ where it unveiled its development roadmap for all-solid-state battery materials.
EcoPro announced on the 15th that approximately 30,000 visitors visited its exhibition booth during the three-day InterBattery 2026 event, which ran from March 11 to 13. During the event, the company held individual meetings with around 30 potential clients, including automotive OEMs and battery cell manufacturers, to discuss business cooperation strategies.
Executives from global automakers such as Hyundai Motor Group and Toyota, as well as major battery cell manufacturers like Samsung SDI, SK On, LG Energy Solution, CATL, and Panasonic, visited the EcoPro booth and showed keen interest.
In particular, visitors expressed high interest in the all-solid-state battery material technology and development roadmap, which are referred to as the "battery of dreams." Ecopro is developing key materials for all-solid-state batteries in collaboration with its clients, including sulfide-based solid electrolytes, all-solid-state cathode materials, and lithium metal anode materials.
Regarding solid electrolytes, the company is securing a pilot line with an annual capacity of 50 tons and plans to pursue commercialization by 2027 in accordance with its clients' schedules.
Choi Moon-ho, CEO of Ecopro BM, stated, "All-solid-state batteries are highly likely to be utilized first in high-energy-density sectors such as humanoid robots and Urban Air Mobility (UAM)," adding, "We are continuously improving quality through close cooperation with our clients."
On the 13th, the final day of the event, Choi Joo-sun, President of Samsung SDI, visited the Ecopro booth to review the all-solid-state material development plans. He emphasized, "Competitiveness in battery cathode materials is a critical factor for cell competitiveness," and urged, "Let's further strengthen the Korean battery value chain by supplying high-quality materials." In addition, executives from major companies in the secondary battery and energy sectors, including Dongwon Group, POSCO Holdings, LS MnM, LG Chem, Korea Zinc, Korea Precursor Company (KPC), and Doosan Energy, visited the EcoPro booth to explore various business opportunities, such as material development and process cooperation.
Dongwon Group Honorary Chairman Kim Jae-chul met with EcoPro Founder Lee Dong-chae to discuss the background of the European factory construction and the procurement costs of cathode materials. Founder Lee explained, "To proactively respond to regulations within Europe, we completed the construction of a cathode material factory in Debrecen, Hungary—the first of its kind for a Korean cathode material company—and plan to begin commercial production this year."
The exhibition hall also saw a steady stream of visits from representatives of overseas secondary battery value chain companies from Japan, Canada, Finland, and other countries, resulting in various cooperation proposals. Furthermore, students from major universities, including Seoul National University, Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), and Pusan National University, visited the booth to examine next-generation battery material technologies. Meanwhile, key executives of EcoPro Group, including founder Lee Dong-chae, toured the exhibition hall, visiting booths of cell manufacturers and materials and recycling companies to assess technological trends and exchange views with industry stakeholders. Executives from major affiliates, including EcoPro CEO Song Ho-jun, EcoProBM CEO Choi Moon-ho, and EcoPro Innovation CEO Kim Yun-tae, also held meetings with clients to expand cooperation and diversify their customer base.
An EcoPro official stated, "EcoPro has secured cost competitiveness by advancing recycling technology based on its world-class high-nickel cathode material capabilities," adding, "We are planning various new future businesses based on this recycling technology."
