【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=시조 시인 송종욱이 40여 년 동안 써온 작품을 묶은 첫 시조집 '그래도 살아야지'를 출판사 시와에세이에서 출간했다. 이번 시집에는 ‘사랑법’을 비롯한 시조 62편이 4부로 나뉘어 실렸다.
‘그래도 살아야지’는 삶의 상처와 고통 속에서도 포기하지 않고 살아가려는 인간의 의지를 상징적으로 드러낸다. 개인의 삶을 넘어 시대와 사회의 아픔까지 함께 바라보는 시인의 시선이 작품 전반에 흐른다.

제1부는 접히고 흔들리는 삶 속에서도 다시 일어서는 인간의 의지를 자작나무의 이미지에 빗대어 그려낸다. 특히 ‘총알’은 러시아-우크라이나 전쟁과 중동 분쟁 등 세계 곳곳의 갈등을 통해 평화의 가치를 되짚고, 산업 현장에서 민주화를 외치다 쓰러진 인간의 존엄성을 노래한다.
제2부는 인간과 자연을 매개로 삶의 의미를 돌아본다. 울진 왕피천을 거슬러 오르는 어린 연어의 모습을 통해 상처 속에서도 다시 꿈꾸는 존재의 의지를 형상화했다.
제3부에서는 네 자녀를 키우며 겪은 가족의 사랑과 부모에 대한 그리움을 진솔하게 풀어냈다. 가족을 향한 애틋한 마음과 세월 속에서 깊어진 인간적 정서가 시조의 운율 속에 담겨 있다.
마지막 제4부는 아픈 현실 속에서도 삶을 계속 살아가야 하는 이유를 되짚는다. 희망의 봄빛과 같은 생명의 기운을 통해 삶을 지탱하는 작은 희망을 노래한다.
해설을 맡은 남효선 시인은 “시인에게 노래는 틀에 갇힌 정형의 언어가 아니라 푸르른 빛이 일어나 가슴에 안기는 운율이며, 운율의 결을 따라 흐르는 성찰과 자유”라고 평했다.
송 시인은 “인공지능 시대일수록 우리 민족 고유의 정형시를 지켜야 한다”며 “시조는 음절과 시어 선택이 제한된 형식이지만 우리말을 시적으로 가장 성숙하게 함축할 수 있는 시 형식”이라고 말했다.
경북 경주시 강동면 출신인 송 시인은 동국대학교 국문과를 졸업했다. 1985년 불교문학 신인상에 ‘제비꽃’이, 1989년 매일신문 신춘문예에 ‘사랑법’이 당선되며 문단에 나왔다. 현재 뉴시스 대구경북취재본부에서 포항지역 담당 기자로 활동하고 있다.

【Break News Pohang】Reporter Park Young-jae = Sijo poet Song Jong-wook has published his first collection of sijo poems, *Still Must Live*, through the publishing house Siwa Essay, compiling works written over the past 40 years. This collection features 62 sijo poems, including *The Way of Love*, divided into four sections.
*Still Must Live*, which is also the title of the collection, symbolically reveals the human will to live on without giving up, even amidst the wounds and pain of life. The poet’s perspective, which looks beyond individual lives to encompass the suffering of the times and society, flows throughout the work.
Part 1 portrays the human will to rise again even amidst a life that folds and wavers, using the image of a birch tree as a metaphor. In particular, *Bullet* reflects on the value of peace through conflicts around the world, such as the Russia-Ukraine war and the Middle East conflict, and sings of the dignity of humans who fell while shouting for democratization in industrial sites.
Part 2 examines the meaning of life through the medium of humans and nature. Through the image of young salmon swimming upstream in the Wangpicheon River in Uljin, the poem embodies the will of existence to dream again even amidst wounds.
In Part 3, the author candidly expresses the family love and longing for parents experienced while raising four children. A tender affection for family and human sentiments deepened over time are captured within the rhythm of the sijo.
The final Part 4 reflects on the reasons why one must continue living even amidst painful realities. It sings of the small hopes that sustain life through the vital energy of life, akin to the hopeful light of spring.
Poet Nam Hyo-seon, who served as the commentator, remarked, “For the poet, song is not a rigid, fixed language confined within a frame, but a rhythm where a verdant light rises and embraces the heart, representing reflection and freedom flowing along the grain of the rhythm.”
Poet Song stated, “The more we enter the age of artificial intelligence, the more we must preserve our nation’s unique fixed-form poetry,” adding, “Although sijo is a form with limited syllables and word choices, it is the poetic form capable of most poetically and maturely encapsulating our language.” Poet Song, originally from Gangdong-myeon, Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, graduated from the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Dongguk University. He made his literary debut in 1985 with "Violet," which won the Buddhist Literature Newcomer Award, and in 1989 with "The Way of Love," which won the Maeil Shinmun New Spring Literary Contest. He is currently working as a reporter covering the Pohang region for the Newsis Daegu-Gyeongbuk Bureau.
