이재명 대통령이 16일 '남양주 스토킹 살인 범죄 관련 관계 당국 대응이 더딘데다 국민 눈높이에 한참 못미쳤다 엄히 질타했다'고 청와대가 전했다.
이규연 홍보소통수석은 이날 오후 춘추관 브리핑에서 "이 대통령이 희생자가 지난 14일 발생한 전자발찌 전과자에 의한 스토킹 살인 범죄란 보고를 받고 이같이 질책했다"고 전했다.
최근 경기 남양주에서 스토킹 가해자가 20대 여성을 살해하는 사건이 발생한 가운데 피해자가 범행 전 여러 차례 경찰에 신고한 사실이 알려지며 대응 부실 논란이 제기됐다.
그러면서 "이 대통령은 희생자를 애도하고 유가족에 심심한 유감을 전하면서 이번 사태에 책임 있는 관계자들을 감찰 후 엄중 조치하라고 지시했다"고 전했다.
또 "범죄 발생 전 피해자는 모두 여섯 차례 경찰에 신고했으나 가해자에 대한 구속영장이 신속 집행되지 않은 걸로 드러났다"며 "이번 사건은 스토킹 범죄에 대한 사회 방지책이 미흡함을 보여주는 사례기도 하다"고 했다.
이어 "이 대통령은 이번 사례 계기로 가해자를 피해자로부터 적극 격리하고 가해자 위치 정보를 신속 파악해 전자발찌·스마트워치를 연동하는 등 스토킹 교제 폭력 범죄 피해자가 세심히 보호받을 수 있도록 관련 조치를 신속 추진하라고 지시했다"고 전했다.
